Chapter 54: The Unbeatable

"Michael wins the match, and just like that, the first battle of the Pokémon League is over!" I hear Kukui shout over the cheers.

Michael withdraws his Manectric and walks up to his opponent. He reaches out his hand as the other withdraws his Venusaur. They shake hands and part ways. Dawn leans her head against me. "I can't wait for you to go."

I look at my ticket. "It says I'll be fighting in the thirtieth match against someone named Sayaka."

"So maybe you won't fight until tomorrow."

I see two people heading our way. We have three empty seats by us. One is for Michael for when he comes back. Flint is sitting next to me, Volkner next to him, then May and Silver. Roark and Mom sit down by us. "We were looking all over for you three."

Flint looks over. "Nice to see you again."

The rest of the group looks down at my Mom and Roark. "Roark?" Silver asks. "What are you doing here for?"

"Just came to watch is all. And be with my wife-to-be."

Mom turns red, and I nearly throw up. Dawn holds onto my arm. Mom is sitting in Michael's seat. Dawn smiles at her. "Hey, Mom? Can you scoot over one seat? We were saving this one for our friend."

Mom gasps. "I'm so sorry. I didn't know."

Roark looks over at the rest of the gang. "Care to introduce yourselves?"

Silver waves. "The name's Silver. My dad lives in Kanto, but I'm from Johto."

Mom smiles. "Who's your dad?"

Silver turns away. "I don't want to talk about it."

May smiles. "I'm May. I'm from the Hoenn region."

Mom smiles. "I hope you're liking it here."

May shivers as I breeze passes by. "It's just cold."

I smile. "You'll never get used to it."

Volkner and Flint wave. "You already know us," Volkner says.

Michael walks past a bunch of people and sits in his seat. "And who are you?" Mom asks.

Michael looks over. "Who are you?"

"I'm Johanna, Chris's mom."

"Nice to meet you. I'm Michael. Dawn's childhood friend and the first person to battle Chris."

Mom nods, then looks at me. "Where's Barry?"

"Somewhere. From what I can tell, he's matured. He won't be easy to beat anymore."

The battle going on below us finishes and the victor returns their pokémon. The next battle begins shortly after. After battle 20, we hear, "The battle between Silver and Joey will begin shortly."

Silver gets up. "I'll see you later."

The sun is starting to pass behind the walls of the colosseum. In a few minutes, Joey and Silver walk out the doors leading the the battlefield. The battlefield is just a simple dirt stadium. It can change into any terrain at any time. The two of them are mere specks compared to the size of the battleground. Silver throws a pokéball and Feraligatr appears in front of him. Joey throws his and a Raticate appears. "Let the 21st battle of the Pokémon League... begin!"

Eve is lying on my backpack, somehow asleep in all the noise. I smile and look back at the battle. Feraligatr chomps onto the Raticate. "It looks like Feraligatr's using a mighty Crunch!" Kukui shouts.

Raticate wiggles free and chomps onto Feraligatr. Feraligatr jumps away before he can though! Silver gives a command with a whip of his arm. Feraligatr looks up, gathers water in his mouth, and blasts a giant stream of water at Raticate. "That's Hydro Pump!" Sycamore exclaims. "Will Raticate be able to take it?"
