Chapter 69: Eve Vs. Tania

A/N: From this chapter on, I will be referring to Eve's metal feeler attack as Steel Ribbons.

Tania sidesteps and goes to bite me. I use Dazzling Gleam in defence, trying to blind her. She grunts in pain and I run around her. I jump up into the air using Quick Attack, then ready Steel Ribbons. I aim one feeler at her as I drop down from above. She looks up and fires a Shadow Ball at me. I'm knocked further into the air, but I flip myself around, aiming myself back towards her. I create a Moonblast and fire it at her. Tania runs out of the way, but I keep firing Moonblasts as I fall to the ground. As I reach the ground, I throw a Moonblast below me, slowing my descend with the detonation. I land on my feet and bare my teeth to Tania. She doesn't even look fazed. Suddenly, she screeches into the air. I feel my heart sink as she finishes. I grunt in pain as I feel a sharp pain in my heart. Tania looks down at me as I push myself off the ground. "This is why none of my targets have escaped me. My Perish Song will attack at your heart without mercy. Every pokémon and human within earshot will die without discrimination."

"Doesn't it affect you?" I say with some difficulty.

She grins. "No. It just tires me out." As she says that, a Pidove drops to the ground in front of me. I tap at it; it's dead. "The amount of time it takes depends on the individual; however, if you kill me before you die, you shall be spared the wrath of this song. From the looks of you, I'd say you have around nine more minutes to kill me."

I fire a Moonblast at her, but she slices through it with Psycho Cut. "It'll take more than that pathetic attack to bring me to my grave."

She uses Double Team and scatters the clones throughout the woods. Eight and a half minutes left. Several Scatterbug and Vivillon fall from the air and trees, dying.

I dash through the foliage using Quick Attack, looking around for Tania frantically. She jumps out at me from behind a shrub. I stab her with Steel Ribbons, but it phases through her. The vanishing clone grins. "Panicking only makes the song work faster."

I grit my teeth and keep running. I find no trace of her for two whole minutes, leaving me with less than six minutes to live. I start to panic, even though I know what happens if I do. I look around the area, just looking for a hint of her presence. I see a bush's leaves flow as a breeze blows by. I see white fur. I grin and run left into the foliage, attempting to feign desperation. I jerk my head around violently, 'looking for' her. I run towards her location, then immediately stab into the bush, grinning. My heart stops for a second when I connect with nothing. I start to panic, but no noise comes out of my mouth. I hear footsteps behind me. "Only a minute left, Eve. I wonder if you can kill me by then."

I waste no time talking and use Steel Ribbons on her. I jab each feeler forward, but nothing connects; she dodges each attack. She uses Psycho Cut on me; her horn slashes my side open. Blood starts running down the side of my body as my flesh is pulled apart by a psychic force. I yell in pain for second, then bite her neck. She starts shaking her head around wildly, just trying to shake my off. I tighten my grip, letting my teeth sink further into her. I finally feel my teeth touch each other within her. I bite down as hard as I can and pull my head back. I pull away some of Tania's flesh. She is staring at me as I drop her flesh on the ground. Her eyes go dark as she collapses. I tore her throat out... I smile at the corpse as the strain on my heart is lifted. "Burn in hell, you bitch."

I spit on her, then start walking away. I don't make it far before my legs give out. I pant and lie my head in the grass until I pass out from exhaustion.

[Fennec's POV]

I run through the woods, running in the direction someone saw a Sylveon go towards. I jump over a bush and into the edge of a clearing. The grass is stained red and it is matted down. I look further ahead and see two bodies on the ground. One, an Absol, and the other... Eve. I run to the two, but stop when I see the blood running from Absol. I look at the crimson liquid. It's still somewhat fresh, but most of it has dried up already. I finally notice her mortal wound. Her throat was torn out. I back up, horrified. I look at Eve. Her jaw is bloody and her left side is terribly cut.

I rush over, then think about what Eve did. The stabbing of the Weavile... and now she tore into someone's neck. I take a few steps back, looking at my lover in horror. The Absol's blood drips out of Eve's mouth as she sleeps.

I look at her wounds, then at the Absol's wounds. Eve isn't as cut up. The Absol is nearly mutilated. I look at Eve's face. She has a smirk on her face, but the thick layer of blood masks the rest of her face. I close my eyes and grit my teeth. I feel tears leaking from them. "Can't you see what you're becoming?" I murmur. "You... murdered them..."

Eve's eyes twitch, then she grunts. They open and spot me. The glittering cyan masking the darkness residing within her. She smiles at me. "Fennec..."

I grit my teeth even more, becoming angry now. "Look at what you're doing! Can you not see what you've done to them?!" Eve is looking at me in shock. I'm crying now. "You're murdering them! It's monstrous! Meurtrière! Meurtrière!! MEURTRIÈRE!!!"

Eve is looking at me in horror, on the verge of tears. I shut my eyes and shake the tears away, though to no avail. I hear her sobbing and open my eyes. The blood is washing away from her face little by little. The light rain starts picking up, washing the crimson away from her white fur. I walk towards her and pull her up. "Let's go," I whisper.

She looks at me. "Where?"

I move to her left side and breathe a small stream of fire on her wound. She flinches and lets out a small cry. "Home..." I murmur.
