Chapter 70: The Deserted Grotto

[Eve's POV]

Three days pass as we walk to the forest we knew as children. When we reach, the first thing I notice is that the trees are bare of color and of life. The dark clouds cover the light from above them from shining through. I look at Fennec; he hangs his head and walks forward towards the cave. I follow him.

As we leave the cave, I gasp in shock. The green grass, beautiful groves of trees, and the fruit patch are replaced with long dead, brown grass, bare stumps sticking out of the ground, and bushes with bare branches. I feel the tears running down my face already, but they pick up as I see the gravestones. Whenever a person died in the village, we would place a stone around the central tree. There's a huge pile of rocks standing sloppily by the tree; it seems like it will crumble at any second. Fennec is distraught and in tears. I walk forward, leading Fennec to our old home... if it's still in this ghost town. I arrive at the entrance to the den. I see a single figure in the darkness, a Ninetales. Fennec gasps. "Father?!"

Olivier turns to us and growls. "Get away! Leave. There's nothing for you here!"

A second Ninetails comes into view. It's Jade... She is pissed. "Where did you go?!"

I glare at her. "Sinnoh."

They both glare at me. "And why are you like him?"

"I evolved. That's it. I killed Gareth. Where's Melody?"

Jade looks at Olivier and shakes her head. "She went after you two as soon as she saw you were gone."

Olivier growls. "Lucky bitch. I watched everyone die to that fiend Gareth."

I grit my teeth. "Don't call my sister a bitch! Secondly, you did nothing?!"

"No one could beat him. Our trained fighters couldn't even stand up to that monster."

Jade smirks. "But he spared us, on one condition..."

Olivier looks at Jade and smiles. "Kill the two of you."

Fennec and I step back, ready to fight. "I've killed three of you already. That rat, Lucien, and Tania!"

"You may beat us easily, but that will just put us out of our misery!" Jade yells crazily.

Fire flares up around the two of them as they walk towards us, grinning in malice. I grind my teeth together and create a Moonblast. I fire it at them, but the two of them jump to either side, dodging the attack. Fennec breathes fire at them, dealing little damage. Jade bites at me, but I jump back, counter attacking with Steel Ribbons. I stab into Jade's leg, making her scream in pain. They're not battle ready. Fennec bites on Olivier's hind leg and pulls him to the ground. I wrap my ribbons around Jade's neck and tighten my hold. She gasping for air as I strangle her to death. As I tighten my grip, blood drips from her mouth. Her eyes roll back into her head as she collapses. I tighten the grip on her neck until I hear it crack. I unravel my feelers and look down at Jade's lifeless body. In a puddle of water, I see myself smiling back at me. My right eye is twitching. I shake my head, snapping back into reality and turn towards Olivier, who is breathing fire at Fennec. Fennec is only dodging now. I see his worried face. He jumps to me and Olivier stops shooting flames. He pants, catching his breath. Fennec is shaking. I walk past him. "Avorton," I whisper.

I open my mouth and fire Hyper Beam at Olivier. He shouts in pain as the beam consumes him. I drop the attack after several seconds and look at the damage I did. Olivier is against the wall, semi-conscious. He grunts and stands up. Smoke rises out of the corners of his mouth. I grin sadistically and glare at Olivier. He freezes and looks at me, petrified in fear. I unravel my feelers and harden them, using Steel Ribbons. As I walk towards him, his jaw starts quivering. "N-n-n-n...no..." I smile wider and lick my lips. "E-e-e-e-Eve?..."

I chuckle and raise my feelers as I stand face-to-face with him. I stare into his terrified eyes. "Beg."

He has tears running down his cheek. "You're not Eve. You're... him. G-Gareth!"

I laugh as I stab him through the head with one feeler, then through the heart with another, then the throat with another, and finally through the lung. I pull my feeler in his heart and lung away from each other. My feelers rip out through his sides. I pull my feeler in his brain upwards. My feeler pulls his brain through his scalp, although it is smashed in the process. Finally, I pull my feeler out of his throat, but before his body falls, I slice through his neck, beheading him. His blood splatters onto my smiling face as I tear him to pieces. "You didn't beg."

I turn to Fennec, who is watching my display in horror. I grin. "Ma chéri, Fennec."

He is frozen in fear as I watch towards him. I stroke his cheek with a blood-soaked feeler, then lick where I wiped. His jaw is agape. I smile at him and stare into his eyes lustfully. "Ma amant~" I say in sing-song.

He backs up a bit, but I wrap my feelers around him. I blush, drunken with bloodlust, and kiss him. He continues staring at me in silence. "Oui ou non?"

His jaw quivers as he stammers. "...Oui..."

I smile and pull him closer to me, nuzzling my blood-covered face against him. As I kiss him, I feel his tears against my flesh. "Eve..."

I smile upon hearing my name leave his mouth. "Je t'aime tellement," I whisper into his ear.

They perk up and we lean into each other, bringing ourselves into a lover's embrace.
