SCENE 7

Craig is at his laptop in the common area, finishing up his Drama homework.

Craig: 'Metatheatre is used in plays to make the audience aware that drama is being created in the scene.'. There. That should be good enough.

He shuts his laptop and puts it into his backpack.

Zoe goes to him.

Zoe: Craig!

Craig open his arms out and hugs her to greet her.

Craig: Hey, you. I feel like I haven't seen you in forever!

Zoe: Well, I'm here now.

They break the hug.

Craig: So what do you wanna do now?

Zoe: Actually, I'm on my way to lesson. I just came to say hi.

Craig: Oh, yeah, right. Enjoy your lesson!

Zoe: Thanks! I'll be sure to enjoy Physics.

Craig is about to walk away, but stops when he hears 'Physics'.

Craig: Physics? You do Physics?

Zoe: I do now.

Craig seems confused.

I'll explain to you later - cos I really need to leave or I'll be late.

Craig: Erm, yeah - I guess I'll see you later.

Zoe waves him goodbye. Craig walks out.

Meanwhile, Christopher and Raeni enter the common area.

Raeni: Christopher?

Christopher: Yeah?

Raeni: You've already shown me the canteen and the cafe twice. I think I know where they are now.

Christopher: Sorry. It's just... I don't know what to do now.

Raeni: We could go outside? I've always wanted to explore Central London - without my parents.

Christopher: Where do you live?

Raeni: Somewhere near Barking... Ilford... Plaistow... somewhere around there.

Christopher: OK. We can go out - just let me use the toilet first. Can you look after my bag?

Raeni: Of course.

He gives Raeni his bag as he goes to use the toilet.

Raeni notices a pink sleeve coming out of it. She takes it out and examines it. Kwabena sees her from behind.

Kwabena: I see you like Christopher's leaver's hoodie.

Raeni: Oh, is that what it is? Why is it pink?

Kwabena: Better ask him.

Christopher returns from the toilet. He sees Raeni holding the hoodie. He runs to her.

Christopher: What are you doing?

Raeni: Is this yours?

Christopher is becoming increasingly embarrassed.

Christopher: No. I mean, yes. I mean-

Raeni: It's a nice colour. I love pink. Can I wear it?

Christopher: Erm... yeah.

Raeni puts on the hoodie. Kwabena smirks at Christopher.

Did you tell her?

Kwabena: No! I just saw her holding it.

Raeni: How do I look?

Christopher pauses to stare at her.

Christopher: Nice.

Raeni: So why did you choose pink?

Christopher: Look, I'm sorry. It was a dare-

Raeni chuckles.

Raeni: No need to apologise. There's nothing wrong with pink. It's a beautiful colour.

Kwabena: I see boys wear pink all the time.

Christopher: But doesn't that make them-

Raeni: Christopher! A colour does not determine someone's sexuality.

Kwabena: Did you know that pink used to be for boys and blue used to be for girls?

Christopher: Really?

Kwabena nods.

Raeni: Are we going out now? Or what?

Kwabena: Where are you two going?

Raeni: Oh - just out and about. You should come with us, Kwabena.

Kwabena: Oh - sure! Why not? Let's go!

The walk out of the common area.

Christopher: I should have got purple instead of pink.
