Back at college, Caspian and Jasmine are in the corridor. Caspian is reading from his Maths textbook.
Caspian: Function of x to the power of n... area under a curve... what was that again?
Jasmine: It was x... something. I heard you say it earlier.
Caspian sighs.
Caspian: Once again, Jasmine, you are no help.
Jasmine rolls her eyes.
Anyway, I remembered it. You have to do an integral between the two points on the curve. So that's... x^3 times dx = x^4 divided by 4 squared, which is equal to 16 divided by 4...
Jasmine: Caspian, why don't you sit down and work on it?
Caspian: Not bothered. I can do this.
Jasmine: Are you sure? It's OK if you need help, you know.
Caspian: I don't need help!
Jasmine's eyes widen.
Jasmine: Ooh, sorry!
Caspian sighs. He then gets to his locker.
Caspian: I'm sorry. It's just... this is a lot harder than I thought.
Jasmine: How was your lesson with Raeni?
Caspian: Fine. But I feel like she knows this already.
Jasmine: Even if she does, that's not expected right now. The teachers don't want us to know everything.
Caspian: True... maybe I should leave it and focus on something else.
Jasmine: You have Dance later, don't you? And Theatre Club too?
Caspian: Yeah, but those aren't for ages. What should we do now?
There is a silence between them.
Jasmine: I have an idea. You see how Raeni is new?
Caspian: Yeah...
Jasmine: I was thinking... should we go and talk to more new people?
Caspian: Why not? Doesn't seem like a bad idea.
Jasmine: Great. Hopefully you're not shy...
