SCENE 11

Zoe is sitting on the benches outside of school, eating a box of chicken and chips. Suddenly, Craig exits out the doors of the college and goes to her.

Craig: You called?

Zoe: I need to speak to you.

She offers him some of her food.

Chip?

Craig: Oh, no, thanks. I already ate-

Zoe gives him a stern glare as she holds out the box.

But maybe... I'll just have a chip. A nice, sauce covered one.

Zoe: That's better.

Craig chuckles.

Craig: So what's the issue, babe?

Zoe: Basically, right - I got kicked out of my Textiles class.

Craig: Why? What did you do?

Zoe: Nothing, Craig. They just said I needed GCSE Art to do the course, and... I didn't have it.

Craig: They should have said that before enrolment.

Zoe: I know! It's stupid!

Craig: So what did you do today, then?

Zoe: I changed subjects. I'm doing Physics now.

Craig is bewildered.

Craig: Physics?

Zoe nods.

I didn't know this was that drastic. So how was it?

Zoe: Terrible. I hate Physics! So much! It's like the worst subject ever!

Craig: Ooh - better not let the new girl hear that.

Zoe: Who's the new girl?

Craig: Her name is Raeni. She's really smart - she's doing 4 A Levels!

Zoe: Maybe I'll see her around...

Craig sits down with her.

Craig: So what are you planning to do?

Zoe: Actually, I was hoping you could help me with that.

Craig: Well... Physics isn't the only subject here. Why don't you try something else?

Zoe: Because - I don't love anything else nearly as much as I love the subjects I picked. And I just wanna do those subjects - English, Politics and Textiles and Fashion. I just wish I could go back in time and do GCSE Art.

Craig: Well, then - that's your solution.

Zoe: What do you mean?

Craig: Why don't you do GCSE Art?

Zoe: I'm not in secondary school anymore, Craig.

Craig: You don't have to be. There's lots of other colleges that do GCSEs. Like Westminster Kingsway down the road...

Zoe's eyes widen. She gets up from the bench, and Craig follows her.

Zoe: No. Not there. I know people who go there. I don't wish to associate with such people. No way!

Craig: Well, then... there's not really much I can do. I wish I could help you, Zoe. There's got to be another way.

Zoe sighs in despair.

Zoe: I'm just so frustrated.

Craig hugs her.

Craig: Don't be. Everything is going to be OK - I promise.

They break away.

Have you told Charli?

Zoe: Charli?

Craig: Maybe she can find a way to help you?

Zoe thinks about this for a while, considering whether or not Charli could help her.
