Arthit's POV

****

They are in Dean's office room right now, huddling together in front of the desk, staring with eyes full of hope for the dean to approve their plan already. They have failed twice now, they can't possibly revised it for the fourth time!

"Let me ask you all, why do I have to let you organize this hazing?" the dean asked as he closed the file. Everyone stares at each other, urging one of them to answer. Bright gulped while Toota bits his lips, Knot nodded at him to open the answer.

"It's for the first-year students." Arthit replied.

The dean still looks unconvinced, so he continued. "If it's for educational purpose, the unification between them and the other benefits are all written on the paper. But if you're asking for my own feeling, when I was a first-year student I got to go on this kind of trip. I was very impressed. It was one of the most memorable events in my life." He paused here. Behind him, his friends all nodding along with his explanation.

"And I want to pass this onto the new students." He said. "But if you won't approve it, then we won't be effected in anyway. I'll just be disappointed for the new students. They probably won't have the opportunity to experience something like this."

"You can only be a first-year student once." He finished it with much conviction he can muster. The dean look at him, like he was gauging whether or not what Arthit said is truly from the bottom of his heart or he is just bluffing, so the event could be approved. But then he seems satisfied with the answer he found in Arthit's eyes, because he finally nodded.

"Alright. I understand. I'll let you do it." the sentence feels like a musical in all of the hazer team's ear. As soon as they excuse themselves and off from the office, they all give out a loud cheer.

"We're going to the beach!!" Bright yelled.

----

Arthit look up into the sky, to the now grey sky which turn darker and darker at a fastening rate. He wants to grumble inwardly, because he just knew his luck won't stay long with him today. They just finished eating at the now deserted cafeteria, as the class already finished for the day and the students are either already home or lounging to crammed their head to prepare for their upcoming exams in the library.

"Euy, Arthit, do you want me to drive you to your dorm?" Knot asked beside him. He pursed his lips, thinking. He somehow remembers that Knot already has plan too in the afternoon. If he had to drive him first, his friend could be the one who is late and drenched from the rain. So he shook his head, rejecting the offer.

"Nah, thanks anyway. I'll just run." He grins.

"Ah! If I knew it would be raining, I'll.." Bright's words dying to a halt and he just grinned at them sheepishly. "Urm, I mean.. I should have brought my car around." He finished lamely. Arthit had a feeling what Bright want to say is for his brother, Wad, to wait for him. If he is not mistaken, Arthit saw once or twice that Wad drove around the campus with his bike, along with Kong. He bits his lips, though, because it seems Bright still wants his true relation with his half-brother a secret.

"Yeah, you should bring your car more often, Ai' Bright." Toota grumbled, staring suspiciously to the grey sky.

"Huh? Why is that?" Bright frowned, not understanding.

"So you can drive me home, of course." Toota mocked-gestured flipping his hair to the back. Bright only rolls his eyes as the others chuckled.

"I still have things to do in the library, so you all can go ahead." Prem said.

"I hope you really study, Ai' Prem." Bright murmured, but everyone could hear it. So Prem hits his head. "Ow! You meanie! It's the truth tough!" Bright said as he rubbed his head.

"Alright, alright. Let's get going. It'll be raining soon." Knot, ever the peacemaker, said. Everyone agrees and went their respected ways.

Contrary to what he said, Arthit opted to just walk slowly even though the sky already gone so dark he had to wonder what held the rain to fall to the ground. He decided he doesn't care if he got wet a bit, as he wants to enjoy the afternoon. A smile was put into his face as he remembers the strange phenomenon when he was sad a couple of weeks ago. It was cold, colder than usual that it feels like it would be snowing, something he had experienced a few times when his parents brought him for a vacation abroad. But somehow the sadness he was feeling was wipe away as the rain falls. He had fun playing by writing words on his window that time, a smile was plastered, replacing the trace of tears on his face.

He was humming as he walks just outside his campus when the rain finally pouring from the sky. Arthit cursed. Because the rain falls hard, instantly drenching him.

"Fuck!" he cursed as he takes a shelter in a nearby tree. It doesn't offer much, but it will do as he was thinking whether or not he should risk running to his dorm. In the end, he chose to run home, because he is already drenching to his bone anyway.

He grumbled and cursed all the way as he runs to his dorm. His vision got blurry, almost nothing can be seen clearly as the rain falls so hard it hurts to open his eyes. Finally, he is almost reaching his dorm as he got to the right alley. He unconsciously slows down his run to a brisk walk, feeling good already because he is almost home.

And then he saw it.

Just in front of the gate..

At first, he thought nothing when he saw a girl under the umbrella walking down the dorm. But then, a young man approached her, also with an umbrella. He almost jokes with himself, because what he saw really like something straight out from a romance movie, where the guy and the girl slowly advance, coming closer and closer until they met in the middle. The umbrella on the girl's hand fell to the ground as she hugs the guy. And they guy embrace the girl tight, as if he doesn't want to let her go again.

It's nothing funny, then, when he can recognize the guy's face.

It was Kong.

He feels like his lungs constricted. His breath hitched, and his body trembling. It was nothing like how the rain affect him. He can feel himself losing his will.

He gritted his teeth, turning his face to another direction, and just run to his dorm, not wanting to see any longer.

----

Many thought rages inside his head. He doesn't have any energy left to curse. As soon as he went inside his room, he dropped his still drenched body in front of his Mae's photo. Staring blankly to the picture on his bedside table, tears start to fall.

A sob. And then two.. soon he is full blown crying, unbidden with anything else.

It hurts.. it hurts so bad in his chest. Just like when he saw Mae's unmoving body in hospital bed. And just like the last time, he doesn't know what he had to do. He buried his head on his hands, letting his sorrow enveloping him.

"Your son is a fool, Mae.. to fall for his cheap trick. They must be laughing at me.." he said bitterly.
