I woke up extremely anxious the next day. I was totally afraid of what Julia and Kota would do when they found out, but the situation was inevitable. They would find out sooner or later and sooner was probably better.
I met Jacob at the bus stop and Ryan waved us over towards his car. "You guys want a ride today?"
I'd honestly do anything to not have to ride the bus, but Kota was the first thing on my mind. "I don't want to leave Kota on the bus alone," I said.
Ryan shrugged and popped open the back and passenger's doors. "We can pick him up too. Come on."
I shrugged at Jacob and climbed in the passenger's seat. "Don't forget that Kota doesn't know yet," I reminded Ryan as he started the car.
He nodded and put the car in drive. "I won't say anything, Cass. Don't worry. You guys have that covered tonight, right?"
I nodded as he pulled up across the street from Kota's bus stop. Jacob stuck his head out the window. "Kota! Come on!"
Kota's face lit up and he ran over to the car, climbing in. "So does this mean I don't have to ride that damn bus anymore?" He asked as he buckled himself in.
Ryan smiled. "Yeah. I mean you should probably run it past your parents, but I don't mind taking you guys to and from school all the time."
He pulled up across the street from the middle school. "I'll pick you up here after school. I'll text Cass if I get held up. Have a good day guys."
We all climbed out and headed across to the school together. "So are you cool if I go over to the team? We can just hang at your locker if you want," Kota said.
Jacob pulled his arm around me. "I already told her she could come with me and Em. You can go ahead like normal. I can take her."
I sighed. "You act like I'm a little kid that needs looked after. You can go Kota, or you can stay. It's up to you."
Kota shrugged and followed us as we walked inside. "I can catch up with the guys later."
Jacob kissed my cheek. "Well if that's the case, I'm going to find Em. I'll see you in homeroom."
I rolled my eyes as Kota and I came up to my locker. "He's head over heels for her. It kind of makes me want to gag."
Kota sighed and leaned against the locker as I got my science binder out. "Are you good?" he asked. "After Saturday and all."
I shrugged. "I'm good and I'm bad. Can we hang after school? There's something I need to tell you, but once it's off my chest, I think it'll be better."
"What is it?"
I shook my head. "I'll tell you later. It's too big for school."
"Does anyone else know?"
I nodded. "Jacob found out at our dinner thing last night, and Ryan, Chad, and Josh. Jake's gonna tell Julia after school so we all know. It's not something I'm holding off on. It's kind of Saturday related. I'll just tell you later."
He nodded. "Then Ryan can just drop you at my place. My mom won't be home, so we can talk."
The warning bell rang and we started walking away. "I'll see you in class?" I asked.
He nodded.
I sat between Julia and Jacob in homeroom and fell quiet again. I just couldn't bring myself to talk. Jacob didn't seem to mind. I had my arms crossed in front of my body and he reached over and sat one of his hands on my arm. Julia just seemed annoyed. "You're always so depressed lately. It's obnoxious."
