The next Saturday, Josh woke me up at 10 and dragged me to my closet. "What are we doing today?" I asked. "I just wanted to lay around."

Josh laughed at me and told me to dress nice. "A sundress with a jacket would look totally cute for today."

I took a second to process that. "Did you you just use the phrase 'totally cute' in a serious sentence?"

He sighed. "Yeah. I think we've been spending too much time together. Get dressed."

He left and seemed defeated while he did, but I didn't question it too much. We had been spending a lot of time together. I pulled out an orange sundress and my favorite jean jacket and paired it with my favorite pair of boots and went off to the bathroom and did my hair. Josh was dressed nice too, wearing a polo shirt and khakis. "Where are we going?" I asked him again and he smiled.

"We're getting breakfast. Come on."

We went out to his car and told me to sit in the back. I fought against him though, arguing that no matter who else was coming, I deserved the front seat, but he told me to shut up and pushed me into the back. We took off down a couple of streets in a direction that didn't give me any sort of sense as to who we were picking up and he stopped in front of a house and beeped the horn. A pretty blonde girl wearing a long maxi dress and a jacket just like mine popped out of the house and climbed in the front seat.

I waited a good minute or two for an introduction after she got in and pecked Josh on the cheek, but it didn't come. Josh turned the car back around towards our neighborhood and I broke the silence. "Not to be rude, but who just got in our car?"

Josh smirked. "Just keep quiet back there. I need to focus on the road."

I was so frustrated, but the girl burst out laughing with Josh and I sank back in my seat. Before I knew it we were parked in front of Jacob's house. "What's going on?"

Josh and the girl said nothing, but Jacob came out when Josh honked wearing an outfit similar to Josh's. He climbed in next to me and hugged me. "Good morning, Cass," he whispered in my ear.

When I asked where we were going, everyone chuckled. "I'm serious guys!" I whined. "What are we doing today?"

Everyone was smiling so big and we continued to drive in silence. After awhile I gave up, crossed my arms, and fell back into the seat. Jacob tried to grab my hand, but I shook him off as if I was genuinely angry at me. This just made them laugh even more.

I groaned after awhile. "Okay. If you're not going to tell me where we're going, you could at least tell me who this girl is. This is weird."

Josh laughed even more. "Alright, fine. Cass, this is Katrina. She's my homecoming date for this year."

"Just your homecoming date?"

Josh sighed. "Yes."

"Then what's she doing here?"

"She's my date?"

"But this isn't homecoming," I argued.

Everyone was quiet again after that. Katrina was obviously very in on the surprise and I couldn't have been more agitated. We finally pulled off the main road onto a lane that vaguely resembled the one that went to Ryan's grandparent's house, but after a long ride on that lane, the trees opened up to a cute little house.

"Okay. We're here. What is it?"

Katrina smiled as we all got out of the car. "It's a bed and breakfast. My uncle owns it."

I was confused. "Why am I wearing a dress then?"

"The dress is for later," Jacob explained as he finally grabbed my hand and I let him pull me inside.

We were met at the door by Katrina's Uncle Scott and he led us to a table where the menus were laid out. "Don't worry about the prices kids," he said. "Family and friends eat for free."

I ordered French toast and bacon with a side of apple juice after we were all seated. "So what's the special occasion? Honestly?"

Jacob smiled. "Well I wanted to take you on a date and I mentioned it in front of Ryan the other day and he brought it up to Josh and Josh said he didn't want your first date to be lame, so we planned a really cool day out."

I gave Josh a look. "You also can't date unsupervised until high school. You know that."

I rolled my eyes. "Jacob isn't my first boyfriend and he definitely isn't a serial killer."

Josh shrugged. "Dad's rules are Dad's rules, but don't worry. You and Jake will get plenty of alone time. I wouldn't have asked Katrina to come help me babysit. If I was babysitting I would've brought Ryan."

*** I'm going to start off by apologizing for my extended absense. The last chapter reached the goal number of votes in record time and hit it at the worst time possible for me. I last updated August 12th and the update got to 160 votes by the 15th. That was five days before school started in the middle of hell week for fall sports. Granted, I play tennis and we don't actually have a hell week, but I still lost 2 and a half hours of my day to that. I also had to finish summer reading assignments along with my job. By the time I finished that I was back in school and don't be fooled. When people say Junior year will be the craziest year of high school, they're right. I'm already so overwhelmed and they've hiked up my hours at work so I barely even have weekends anymore. Point is that my free time is rare now and when I have it, I'd much rather do nothing instead of write. As much as I love it, I have English class immediately followed by creative writing everyday.

ANYWAY this does not mean that I'm giving up on Chasing Jacob whatsoever. This just means that for the next month or so until tennis is over and I can get a new job, I won't be able to have any free time for writing. I do promise that I will try my hardest to get back into things, but I can't promise anything like weekly updates at this point.

That being said this isn't the full chapter. This is all I was able to write since the last time I posted, but I didn't wanna post my excuse and update message without giving you more of the story. I'm really sorry about the wait, but real life with my education as well as my mental and physical health come before fan fiction. Thanks for all of the support and patience! I'll post the rest of this chapter as soon as it's written. Also thank you guys for breaking 200 votes for the first time in the last chapter. I love you all to death!
