siren (sahy-ruh-n)
noun
dangerous yet beautiful creatures, who lure nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island.

In the year 1575, in the Italian country side, William Santiago took his wife and kids to the beaches of Greece to enjoy a nice vacation together. He had a son of 16 and a daughter of 7, both wide eyed and adventurous. As they settled, he and his wife warned the two about the many mysterious stories surrounding the beach where they had vacationed, joking about sea monsters and mythical creatures.
The stories only made the two want to explore more, the little girl wanting to see what the locals called a mermaid. Begging her older brother to help her, he gave in, also wanting to see the supposed beautiful creatures of the deep.
As they walked along the beach, the girl running head, the son saw a girl swimming a little bit off. Being a boy, he watched as she started to sing a sweet melody, drawing him closer. Her eyes then fixed upon his and he was hooked, walking into the ocean as she sang. Seeing her brother fully clothed just walking in, the little girl called to him, noticing the evil surrounding the girl in the water as girls are not lured in by the melody.
William's wife heard her little girl, running to see why she screamed. Seeing her boy almost neck deep, she ran in, the music not affecting her. Once she dragged him back to shore, not without a fight of course, the girl in the water stopped singing.
Furious the girl immediately swam closer, her tail now showing as she was indeed a mermaid, a siren of sorts. "How dare you take my dinner from me you human?!" She said, trying to reach for the boy as he had become unconscious once she stopped singing.
William's wife glared at the mermaid and pulled him behind her, his little sister still cowering a bit away. "Excuse me you wretched creature but that's my son! Go back to the depths where you came from!" She replied sternly with just a waver at the end from actually seeing such a story be true.
