↠Bradie
The bell that rung telling us 6th hour and the day was over. I walked out of my science class with my binder and pencil in my hand.
I approached my locker and put in the combination. I placed my pencil in the holder that's hanging on with a magnet on the inside of the locker door. And I placed my binder on the shelf.
I grabbed my back pack off its hook and shut my locker door then just leaned against it on my phone as I waited for Hayes so we could walk to practice. I was waiting for about 5 minutes.
"Hey baby," I looked up but I wasn't Hayes. It was a guy from the lacrosse team; Sam. He had a smirk on his face.
I gave him a discussed look, "um. No. Leave me alone."
"Oh come on, you're hot."
"Fuck off," I said an began to walk away. As I turned around he grabbed my wrist and pulled me back. "Ooo you can be dirty. I like that," he said in my ear.
I tried to back away but he wouldn't let me.
"Get away from me!" there was nobody in the hall way so nobody heard me. Where the hell is Hayes at?
"No. Come on Bradie, now that your little buddy is dead, I can have you."
I gave him the dirtiest look you could Imagine. "How fucking dare you. You cannot talk to me like that and get away with it. You will not take advantage of me. Or even try to. And I have a boyfriend thank you. Now get away from me," I said and pushed him off of me and ran towards the locker rooms.
I intently fell to the ground because I collided with someone.
Hayes.
I jumped up and hugged him.
"Hey babe, sorry Mr. Stevens held me after class. What's wrong?"
I let go from the hug and looked behind me and Sam was gone. Thank god. Creep. I just can't stand him. "B?" Hayes said snapping me out of my gaze.
"Huh? Oh-uh nothing. Let's go to practice we're already late."
He gave me a concerned look like he wasn't buying it. "Come on let's go," I said nudging his shoulder. He shrugged it off and grabbed my hand and we jogged towards the fields.
I had to change fast because I was late getting here.
Once I was done getting ready I headed out to the field with my stick and goggles in my hand and my mouth guard hanging out of my mouth.
*
We were practicing for about an hour when I looked out towards the parking lot.
I saw a man in an army uniform with a women walking toward the fields. Once they got closer I realized. I looked over at the boys field to see Ryan looking at me.
We both dropped our sticks and I ripped off my goggles and he took of his helmet. I didn't have my mouth guard in at the moment so it wasn't an issue.
Me and Ryan both sprinted towards our parents.
I jumped up on my dad and wrapped my arms around his neck and my legs around his torso. Ryan ran up and engulfed him in a hug even though I was still attached to him.
I was soaking up his jacket with my tears.
I have never been so happy in my life. I was sobbing but they were tears of joy.
I still can't believe he's here. I don't have to live in the constant fear that he's going to be taken away from me at any second.I got off off him and wiped some tears away "I've missed you so much," I managed to say. He was crying too. So were my mom and Ryan.
He wrapped his arms around me and Ryan "I've missed you guys more than anything," he said. He let go from the hug to look at us. "Oh my goodness you guys have grown so much," I've missed him like crazy.
I smiled at him with a little laugh and looked at Ryan and laughed. We were a mess. But it was okay. I wiped away a few more strand tears. I had this giddy feeling inside of me.
My mom came over too so me and Ry hugged her. "He's back for good," she told us. I started to cry more. I was so happy. I still couldn't believe it. "Come on lets go to out for dinner. Go get your stuff," my mom said smiling.
Ry and I sprinted back to our fields and grabbed our stuff then to the locker rooms real quick to get our stuff in there.
I ran back out and as always, Ryan was slower than me. He came out after a few seconds of waiting, "come on slow poke!"
"I'm comin'!" He approached me. And we jogged back over to our parents.
We piled into the car and drove to the restaurant with non-stop talking.
When we got there I knew exactly what I wanted to eat. It was a place we always used to go as a family before my dad left. And I still remembered after 4 years.
After every one ordered my dad asked me a question; "so Bradie how's Dylan?"
I dropped the fork that was in my hand on the table but didn't look at up. "Dead." I said flatly. No emotion in my voice. Nothing.
"What?!" I looked up and he was looking at all of us confused.
"He died about 3 and a half weeks ago."
"Oh Bradie I'm sorry I didn't know- your mom didn't tell me," he said with worry in his voice.
"It's fine," I regretted those choice of words right after they left my mouth. It wasn't fine but I tried to okay it off, "you didn't know."
He just nodded and we all continued eating.
Once we got home my dad got settled back into my moms room. Well I guess it was my parents room again. I liked that.
I went out onto my balcony and placed my hands on the railing and leaned against it.
I looked up at the stars, "he's home Dyl. My dad's home. And he's save. He asked about you too. I just really wish you were here to see him. I know you would've loved to see him. I miss you tons and not a day goes by that I don't think about you. I love you Dylan."
