↠Bradie
By the time the bell in social studies class rung I was already done with the day and ready to be on winter break but it's only lunch time. I was the last one out of my class as always and made my way to my locker. I placed my books and everything on the shelf. I shut my locker and placed the lock back on. I headed towards the cafeteria by my self but to meet everyone there.
"Hey girly."
I jumped not expecting anybody. I turned to my left and smacked Kelly on the shoulder, "you just gave me a freaking heart attack."
She laughed while I was still trying to get my heart restarted. "My bad but anyways what did you get Hayes for Christmas?"
"Uh nothing yet." I replied.
"Bradie! Christmas is in 5 days and you haven't gotten him anything yet?!"
"I was kinda planning on making him something but I gave no clue what." I reasoned with her.
She thought about it for a minute, "what about a picture collage?"
"No, to basic."
She thought again, "oh! what about if you customize a lacrosse stick?"
I thought about it, "I don't know. We'll see. I'll see if Ryan has any ideas." Kelly nodded her head and we walked into the cafeteria and found our table. I sat in the spot I do everyday at our table that seats 12. I sit in the middle of one of the sections of 3 seats. I sat at lunch but not eating. Hayes was next to me chomping down on a taco. Kelly on the other side of me eating a sand which she brought from home.
"Not eating?" Hayes asked me. I looked at him and saw his taco was gone.
"Nah I'm not hungry, I had a big breakfast." I looked down at my hands sitting in front of me on the cold lunch table and cracked my knuckles.
He leaned in closer to me and whispered "you raised your eyebrows."
I tried to crack my knuckles again but failed. I looked at him "fine. I don't wanna eat." I whispered but gave him attitude. His eyes filled with sadness but also anger. Why was he either of those? My stomach grumbled at the worst timing. Our eyes were locked and I could feel people at our table starring. I broke the gaze and fiddled with my fingers.
"We'll talk about this later." He mumbled.
"No we won't."
"Yes we will." He volleyed back.
"There's nothing to talk about Hayes." I raised my voice from the loud whispers we were doing to talking with great attitude. I looked at him annoyed and he looked at me sympathetically.
"B yes there is-" I cut him off there. I got up from the table and made my way out of the cafeteria.
I grabbed a book out of my locker and took a seat on the ground in front of it. I resumed my place in It's Kind of A Funny Story.
After about 15 minutes I felt a body slide down on the lockers onto the floor. I could smell the axe Hayes wears. "There's nothing to talk about." I kept my eyes on the pages of the book but lost my focus of reading.
"B why are you lying to me?"
"I'm not lying."
"There goes the eyebrows again." I could tell he smiled at the end of his smirky comment. I closed my book and looked at him dead in the eyes. "Please don't lie to me." He said so quietly that no one else but me would be able to hear. But we were alone in the hall.
I looked away from him and sighed. I banged my head against the locker and left it there, starring at the ceiling. "What do you want me to tell you."
