Ashton POV
My hand ran through my hair as I groaned. The word ‘awkward’ couldn’t even describe the feeling in the small space two males - who had lost a friendship over a girl - were in. “Mate, listen-“ Niall started as I cut him off.
“Why are we falling out over a girl?” I said looking at the blank wall ahead of me. That’s all I had been thinking since I head Rebecca’s conversation with Niall. Why had we been falling out?
“I don’t know mate… I just- I’m so protective over her lately… She’s just so beautiful I don’t want anyone else to have her” He says quietly looking down at his pale hands which seemed to be a lot softer than any of us.
I gave a soft nod, showing a understood before realising he wasn’t looking. “I understand that. I really, really understand it. I’d be exactly the same… but- that night when she was in my room. That was my fault. Don’t blame her. I went to kiss her and I shouldn’t have. She’s yours… I need to find someone else” I said softly. My voice beginning to fall to a whisper as the sentence came to an end.
His head lifted, almost as if we were switching emotions. “You love her don’t you Ash?” He said softly, clearly biting his lip, scared of the answer that was about to fall out of my lips.
“No.” I said a little too quickly. His eyebrows staying knitted together as I shook my head and leant my back against the cold metal wall of the small hotel elevator. “Yes.” I sighed, rubbing my face with my hands.
“I mean, I don’t anymore Niall. I tried to stop as soon as she became yours- I tried so fucking hard mate… I don’t love her as much but I’m so sorry. So fucking so-“ I began. Then it was my time to be cut off.
“It’s alright mate. It’s all okay… If Harry and Michael can remain calm and friendly, so can we. I think it’s cute my best friends in love with my girlfriend” He smirks as I break out into a soft smile.
“So, you’re not annoyed at me?” I say softly, biting my lip as I look at the boy roughly about the same age as me, but still taller than me by about 4 inches or so.
“Course not! Just don’t try anything with her or your dead” He said smirking. Half joking and half serious.
That’s when the lift began to move as we let out a heavy breath. “Thank the lord” Niall muttered as I laughed shaking my head.
We arrived back down on the floor as I stepped out of the lift beside Niall as Rebecca raised an eyebrow. “We’re all good love” Niall smiled kissing her cheek as I chuckled, ruffling her hair as she groaned and began attempting to tell me off which made me laugh louder.
All of us were happy now. Luke playing with his lip ring as Grace sat on the phone to someone from home, explaining that she was okay. Still clearly annoyed at both of the other girls, Michael and Niall. Luke slung his arm across her shoulders, kissing her head making a soft smile on her face and her head lean on his shoulder as she hung up the phone, letting it fall into her bag.
Sophie and Michael were sat in two different spots. Michael on the sofa beside Calum and Sophie between his legs, playing games on his phone as he spoke to Calum. His pale but toned arms coming down to lift her with ease onto his lap, kissing her cheek as she pulled up the camera icon, beginning to take photos with him. Her laugh loud in the lobby as Michael nuzzled his face into her neck, causing her to try and squirm away – to which he responded by holding her closer.
I needed to find someone. I needed to stop getting myself down about everyone being happy. The only fact was – in my mind – no-one seemed to be as good as her at the moment. I couldn’t find anybody who wanted me for who I truly was. People would just use me for getting to the boys I was with.
Paul and Preston soon escorted us to the minibus outside of the hotel with various other security guards, keeping us safe from the thousands of fans who had been outside of the hotel for hours on end.
We settled into our seats, preparing for the journey we were embarking on.
This tour really was something else.
A lot like the girl I was head over heels for.
