Sophie POV
As soon as Michael had left for his time at the recording studio, my legs had made their way back to the warmth of the hotel room bed. Plaid pyjama bottoms and Michael’s t-shirt were the only items of clothing worn on my tanned body from spending the day in the sun with Rebecca a few weeks ago.
The moment my head had touched the cool side of the white pillow, I had fallen asleep.
I hadn’t realised just how long I had been asleep until I head Michael’s voice through the door way of the hotel room. My body sat up, hands coming up to rub my tired eyes before reaching for my phone laid on the bedside table. 6:34 pm. Just over nine hours sleep…
“Sophie? Where are you?” Michael called as I heard his footsteps out of the kitchen. I stood up slowly, yawning as I walked towards the sound of his footsteps. My eyes still laced with sleep and my hair now in a loosely tied ponytail. A huge amount of evidence of the fact I had recently just woken up from a deep slumber.
“Here” I rasp. My throat dry from sleeping with my mouth open – which I must say made me wonder why Michael was still around because it really wasn’t very attractive. My feet dragged me to the fridge, pulling out the carton of apple juice and pouring some into a glass, sipping at it slowly. My stomach turning at the thought of why I had chosen apple juice.
“Have you been asleep?” He says softly as I nod in response. My lips still wrapped around the rim of the glass as I slowly finish, placing it down. “Still not feeling 100%?” He says softly leaning on the doorway as I shake my head gently. “You should get to a doctor… This has been going on a while…” He says shaking his head softly.
“I feel a bit better after a sleep… I’m fine honestly” I say softly, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear as I bite my lip gently. My eyes looking down at my fluffy socks, wiggling my toes as I smile slightly at the feeling of the material.
“How long have you been asleep?” He says sounding slightly annoyed. What had I done?
“Just over nine hours” I say softly, playing with the hem of his t-shirt that swamped over my small body. My eyes lifting up slightly as I see him looking down shaking his head.
“All you’ve done lately is sleep…” He mutters thinking I didn’t hear him. I did.
“Well I’m sorry I’m ill” I snap walking past him into the living area, sitting down on the sofa and taking my laptop into my hands, leaning against the wall so he couldn’t see what I was doing. I opened up the website I had been browsing lately, biting my lip as my eyes scan over the screen.
“Did I say it was your fault?” He snaps as I shake my head.
“I didn’t say you did. I can’t help the fact sleeping makes me feel better.” I say just as harshly, looking up before looking down again.
“You know, I think you’re beginning to put it on, simply because you’re becoming increasingly lazy.” He says throwing his hand in the air for emphasis.
“Woah, big word.” I sat sarcastically. “I’m not lazy. I’m ill. You’ve seen that first hand when I’m being sick into a toilet bowl Michael.” I snap closing the laptop lid and placing it down.
“You are becoming lazy! You have no reason to be! You’re sitting around here spending the money I earn on what? What? Clothes?” He yells as I raise my eyebrows.
“You think I’m sitting here spending money? I’m not. I’m sat here thinking about everything that’s been going on.” I yell back shaking my head with a laugh. “Thanks for thinking I do nothing but spend your money.”
“You are. I’ve seen the bank statements.”
“That’s your bank statements for when you bought those band tshirts you didn’t fucking need.” I snap pushing past him and walking towards the door area. I needed to rid my mind of this and see Becky. It wasn’t good for me right now.
“See! You’ve been sitting around thinking! You could be doing something productive. Becky has been. She’s been planning her future. You on the other hand have been plain lazy! Nothing but fucking lazy” He yells turning in the same direction I walked in.
“I have a fucking good reason Michael” I snap putting my hand on the door handle, about to turn the cold brass object in my small hands.
“And what’s that? There’s no reason to be lazy Sophie!” He yells stepping closer with his finger pointing towards me.
That’s when I snapped.
I had a good enough reason and he couldn’t tell me it wasn’t.
I yelled it. I couldn’t stop it from coming out.
“I’m pregnant!”
