Chapter 27

Emily

I was in the throne room sitting on my chair waiting for Lexa. When the double doors opened loudly and saw Lexa entering with haste, I abruptly stood up and base on her serious expression there seemed to be a problem. I scrunched my eyebrows together and said "What's the matter?". She just passed right through me and walked towards the balcony. I followed her and saw her leaning down the railings while closing her eyes. "Lexa?" I said calling her attention. "I don't know what to do... I don't want to be weak..." she said half whispered. "What do you mean? Your not weak. Your basically the most powerful person here on earth." I said confused on what she's saying. "Em.. I can't stop my heart beating for her..." she said and glanced at me then back to the scenery of the kingdom. So this is her problem..now I understand... "Lexa why are you resisting then? I can't see the problem of tha-" I answered but she cut me off. "NO! THIS IS a problem. I can't be weak in front of my people. Love is weakness you know that! Everytime she's near my mask slowly cracks showing my emotions!" She said facing me. "I can't be a leader to my people if I'm that soft! Anyone can threaten me and took over the kingdom if they see my weakness!". "NO your wrong Lexa! You're just too stubborn to accept that for the first time after your mom died you begin to feel loved again. You begin to have a life. The day you saw the sky princess it was the first time I saw some emotions passing through that blank stares of yours. You might not notice it but the people... your people are happy to see some part of you... You build layers of walls that even your own people who loved you can't break it and now there's someone special who could melt it down with just one stare and your not even giving it a chance... love is not weakness... Love gives you life..." I said while staring directly into her eyes. Hopping that I could change her mind. "I will just put her in danger..." she said diverting her gaze. "Let her decide for that. Do not decide for her.." I said. "No. I just couldn't. I'd rather choose a wife without involving my feelings. It is just a distraction...." she said and walked inside the throne room, I followed her immediately and said "what do you mean?." She turned slightly to me and said "I will get a partner since the council pushed it to me everytime they get a chance... that way I would forget about her. And besides we will not see each other again if she's now assigned to a specific area of the kingdom.." "Why?! Why missed a chance to be happy?!" I said with furry while stepping forward towards her. She just looked down and half whispered "because I don't deserve it... I don't deserve her.." Then she turned and walked away leaving me pissed off. She's so fucking  stubborn! How could she do this to herself! I clenched my hands into a fist controlling my anger.

Next day

Clark

Our mission yesterday failed for we never got a chance to see the queen. I guess she's that busy. I look at myself in the mirror and can't help notice d the cultural differences between grounders and sky people just by their clothes. I wore a black spaghetti fitted dress because this is the only dress I could find, I'm still not comfortable of wearing jeans and tops like the usual grounder women do. I tied my hair into a high ponytail and wore a high knee boots. I look at myself and can't help but smile.. oh well this is the groundest way I could make. I decided that I would visit the infirmary and spend time with the kids there since I don't know where my friends are. As I walked along the castle hallways I couldn't stop reminiscing the hallways of my castle it is covered with white paint and gold not like this who is too dark for my taste. I think grounders love dark colors. I noticed the guards glancing at me everytime I passed by as well as the servants that I encounter cleaning or carrying some objects. I look down at my outfit and just shrugged my shoulders maybe I just look so weird on their clothes. As I make my way to the infirmary civilians also stared at me and I just smiled. I saw Nyoko talking to some grounders with white coats I approach him and said "hi Nyoko.." Nyoko looked at me and was a bit startled but smiled "hello your highness to what do we owe this pleasure?" He asked. "So I was wondering since the queen asked us to get a job maybe.. I could work here?" I said with a sweet smile. He was taken back but immediately nod and smiled "yes ofcourse your highness we would love to have the sky princess in the infirmary maybe it will heal them fast if they could see this beautiful face" he said and giggled. "Why thank you Nyoko.. so can I start now?" I said. "Ofcourse.. you can stay with the kids and help the nurse feed them and give them the medicines they need.." he said while guiding me towards the room where the kids stayed in. "Thank you so much Nyoko!" And I kissed him in the cheeks. I saw his face turned red as a tomato before I walked inside the room. The kids felt my presence and stopped chating and playing. "Hello kids good day this is the sky princess Clark and she will be with you all for the whole day so please behave.." Nyoko announces from behind me. And they all stared and looked at me with awe. "Ahmm ... hello you can call me Clark.." I said awkwardly. And they are all still stuck from their position. The nurse at the other end of the room broke the silence and walked towards me with a smile and extended her forearm towards me. "Hello your highness my name is Nahlah I am pleased to work with you.." she said. And I accepted her arm, smiled and said "hello you can call me Clark and I can't wait to work with you.. " The kids immediately run towards me, swarming me with questions that I couldn't comprehend cause they're talking all at once. "Alright break it up one question at a time okay? You don't want to scare the princess and leave you right?" Nahlah said to the children and they all nod. I can't helped but smiled awwee they are so fucking cute! I felt a hand on my shoulders as I glanced behind me I saw Nyoko smiling and signalled that he needs to return to his work. I just nod and smiled at him then mouth thank you. "Wow she's so pretty..." one little girl with brown hair said. "Her hair its color white!" The other kid said "Her eyes are blueeeeeeee!!!" Then another until they are all screaming and complementing me. Then I heard a whistle and we all turned to Nahlah holding two fingers in her mouth. "Okay! One question at a time please!" She turned to the kiss then glanced at me "your- I mean Clark you can sit here" while she gestures towards the beige chair near the window which I complied happily. "Clark the children wants to ask you some questions if you don't mind.." she said giving me with hopeful stares "none at all."  I said and smiled. "Is it true you can set the whole world on fire?!?" One little boy said with wonder. Then I smiled and nod. "Yes I can.." I said. And they all said in unison "AWESOME!!!!." Well this is gotta be a long day.
