Janes POV
I knocked on Maura's door. I've never been to her house before. It looks really fancy. Then the door opened and Maura stood there on a fancy top and white jeans. She looked...really hot, actually.
"Why do you always look like your about to do a photo shoot?" Maura smiled. She walked me to her kitchen and handed me a glass of wine. She walked past me and I turned to watch her. "God, what is that." I said looking at the giant thing on the floor. "Shh...you'll scare him."
"He's alive."
"Yes. His name is Bass. Geochelone sulcata. African Spurred Tortoise, I had him since he was like this big." She took a strawberry from a bowl. "Partial to British strawberries." Maura bends down and try's to feed Bass a strawberry.
"Bass, what, that an ex boyfriend?"
"No, William M Bass, the forensic anthropologist who founded the famous body farm."
"Right, yeah that bass."
I watched the turtle shy away on his shell. "Yeah he's a great pet, really interactive." I said sarcastically. Maura stood up and I followed her as she led me to the spare bedroom. "So how long can a person go with out sleeping?"
"Hallucinations begin by day four, followed by slurred speech, short attention span and death."
"Your better than Wikipedia."
"Wikipedia is frequently incorrect very little is rigorously peer reviewed." Then the door bell rings. "Somebody's just dropping something off." She walks out and closed the door. I press my ear up against the door then I decide to open it. It was Agent Dean. He handed her a file and she smiled. Then she turned and started to walk back. I shut the door then laid down in the bed. She knocked on the door. "Go away I'm asleep." She opened the door anyway and walked over to the bed. She slides onto the bed and lays very close to me. I get a little nervous and start playing with my hands. "Are we having a sleepover or it this your way if telling me your attracted to me." I looked at her and she laughed. Then we both looked back up at the ceiling. "So it was Dean you were expecting." I said soundings jealous. She hesitated. "He wanted my opinion on a different case."
"What case?"
"I can't say." She hesitated.
"I'm not seeing him." 'Good' I thought.
"Did you ever like the same guy as your best friend?"
"No."
"Did you ever have a best friend?"
"No."
"You'd tell me if you were a cyborg?"
"No I don't think I would." I laughed. Then I heard something knock around in the other room. I sat up. "No it's okay. It's just Bass." she sat up with me and wrapped her hand around my arm. We laid back down and she patted my arm. Maura put her hand behind her head and left the other rested next to mine. She slowly touched my hand then intertwined our fingers. I tensed up and my cheeks went red. Maura noticed my tenseness and tried to let go of my hand. But I squeezed her hand and I loosened up. Maura cheeks were red. I wanted to kiss her so badly. Maura scooted closer. And I shut my eyes just enjoying her company.
"Jane...."
"Yes Maura."
"I...Don't like Dean, he's not really my type."
"What is your type?"
"Well...its not his personality, it's his gender." Yes yes yes-I cheered in my head. "Your gay..."
"Yes...kinda. Ive only ever like one woman though."
Maura laid on her side and smiled at me. She laid her arm over my waist and my cheeks went red again. Maura leaned down and kissed me.

Then I woke up from my fantastic dream and looked down. Maura was still there, rested on my chest with her arms around me. I smiled and kissed her forehead. Then rolled onto my side and held her to my chest. I smiled at the sleeping medical examiner and stroked her hair back. She mumbled in her sleep then held my waist tighter. "Jane...." Maura said mumbled sleepily. I looked down and Maura's hazel eyes were looking at me. "Oh hi Maura."
"Hi." She smiled and scooted up closer. "What?" she asked smiling, as she stroked my cheek. "Nothing...."
"You want some breakfast?"
"S-Sure." we got up and I followed Maura into the kitchen. She made us breakfast then walked over. She sat my plate down and I smiled. But before I could look down at my plate, Maura placed her hands under my chin and kissed me. I was taken back a bit but after a second I kissed her back. I kissed her a few more times then pulled away. Maura smiled at me and I smiled back. I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her closer. "Jane your food will get cold." she chuckled as she leaned down to kiss me again. Maura kiss me a few more times then pulled away. "Okay. Eat Jane." she said smiling. "Ok...." I turned to my plate and started to eat my food. Maura sat next to me and I smiled. We finished breakfast and I helped her wash dishes. Well really I did the dishes while Maura had her arms wrapped around me and occasionally helped. I didn't mind though. "Let me get dressed then I can take you back to your place to get ready." Maura got ready then came out in black pants, a yellow sleeveless shirt and a weird jacket. "My girlfriend is a bumblebee." I said putting my arm around her. Maura smiled and chuckled a bit. After pretty much the worst night of my life, getting captured by Hoyt, I had to now go clean up my apartment. I leaned up against the door then slid down to the floor. Then I heard clicking and Jo Friday came running in. I looked out the door the Maura walked in. She had on a very flattering outfit. Grey skinny jeans, a flowery top and a burgundy red leather jacket. She was holding a glass case. She crouched down and handed me the case. "I wanted you to see what amazing creatures these are." It was a turtle. We both stood up and I took the turtle over to the counter. "They are pretty cute when there tiny." Maura came up behind me and rubbed my back. "Are you ok?" she asked sweetly. "Yeah....just tired." Maura inspected my bandages. "Poor baby." She cooed then kissed me. "Maura can we do this later. I don't feel like picking all this up tonight."
"How did you know that's what I came for."
"I have mad skills." Maura laughed and I smiled. "Come on, you can stay at my house." Maura said. I smiled brightly and followed Maura out. We got back to her house and she made us Bloody Mary's. "Did you bar tend?"
"Actually I did. When I was in collage."
She came and handed me my drink. I like being here with her, I feel safe. It's funny, the people you can find security in. Mine is a goofy, quirky, medical examiner.
