She was different to any student he had ever come across. She was quiet, read books, didn't party, but behind the silence was a sadness that radiated from her. It was as if he couldn't help himself, he wanted to be what she needed. The only problem...
Shawn Mendes "It's so nice that you're helping out students" Hailey said as I walked her to her car. "Well I know she wants to do the best that she can" I said and Hailey smiled. "Do you want to get a drink tonight?" She said suddenly and I wracked my brain for an answer. As I was struggling I was saved by the ring of my phone. I grabbed it out of my pocket, accepted the call, and held it up to my ear. "Shawn? It's Faye" her voice rang into my ear and I smiled. "Oh hey. I'm just with a co worker right now" I said trying to hint to her I couldn't talk properly. "I'll be quick. I've told my mum I'm working with you some days after school at yours or mine and she agreed as long as she can meet you. Oh and I can do Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays" she spoke quickly and I tried to remember all the information she told me. "I can meet her tonight if that helps?" I said smiling at Hailey who nodded. "Oh that would be great yeah she's home now if you want to come?" I agreed and hung up the phone.
"I'm sorry Hailey I would like to but I have to go and meet someone I haven't seen in a long time" I said and she held up her hands. "Honestly Shawn it's fine. Some other time then?" She asked getting into her car and I nodded. I waved her off and hopped into my own car, driving off to the Dawson household. I got to the door and knocked waiting for an answer. "Hello. You must be Mr Mendes?" A short brown haired woman said opening the door smiling. I nodded and she welcomed me in, leading me down a flight of stairs into a kitchen dining room area. As I got down there I saw Faye dressed in black tights and a black leotard. "Sorry for the outfit sir I have dance in like half an hour" Faye laughed blushing and I nodded as we all sat down. "Excuse me but you look very young to be a teacher of A Level English" Faye's mother said and I laughed lightly. "I'm twenty two. Over in America I completed a teaching qualification and I got the best grade I could in my A Level English. I'm perfectly capable" I reassured her and she nodded. "So Ms Dawson I feel like your daughter seriously excels in my English class. But I also feel like she would benefit from some extra outside help to ensure she's got the best possible chance" I said and Faye's mother seemed to be in thought. "I agree and we have to give her her best chance at getting the best grade so I approve of the extra help" She smiled as did Faye and I. "As I said to Faye Wednesdays Fridays and Sundays would be the best days as I work night shifts up in London and stay over up there so wouldn't be there to disrupt you." She said and I nodded. "That sounds good for me. As long as Faye feels comfortable with that?" I asked. "Yes of course I'm fine with that" she smiled nodding and it was done. It was agreed we'd be working from five till eight and on the two week days we would work here and on the Sunday we would work at my house. I couldn't be happier with the outcome really. I know we were supposed to work but really I was just looking forward to spending time with her.
Wednesday It was five. I knew she was home alone. Yet I couldn't bring myself to go in. I didn't want to do something that I would regret or she wouldn't agree with. I took a deep breath and knocked on the door. "Hey" Faye said opening the door. She was dressed in a pair of leggings with a black top. She ushered me into a small study room of hers, decorated in fairy lights with a small plant on the window sill. There was a desk with two chairs and a small couch type thing. "Are we actually going to work or just talk?" She laughed and I shrugged. "Compromise. We'll do an hours work then two hours talk?" I said and she nodded.
The work was good. She had no problem doing whatever I told her to do. She understood everything which was promising as a teacher. "Ok hours up!" She smiled and I shook my head trying to mask my smile. "Do you want a drink?" She offered. "Water would be great" I said and she nodded I followed her out of the study and down to the kitchen. She hummed as she got two glasses from the white cupboard and filled them up at the tap. She handed me the glass and I felt the cold metal of the ring on her little finger. After grabbing the drinks we went back up to that little study room and sat on the sofa. "So tell me about you Shawn" she said and I smiled. "What do you want to know?" "Everything. I dunno. What's your favourite thing to do when you're not teaching?" She asked. "Actually I sing and do music. Things like that" I shrugged and she nodded. "I like reading. And music actually. So I'm going to ask. How long was your longest relationship?" She got right into the relationship topic and it made me nervous. Don't do something you'll regret Shawn. "Two years. We broke up last year. What about yourself?" I asked keeping it mostly on her. "Never had a boyfriend. Although between us I think Thomas might have a little interest" she smiled tucking her hair behind her ear. That comment ignited something in me. I wanted to say that I didn't know why but I did. Although I couldn't and shouldn't have her I wanted her. Especially now as were in this type of environment. "Do you want him?" I asked her and she shrugged. "I'm not sure. I don't know how I feel" she said looking at me. I nodded and dare not to break the eye contact between us. "What is this?" She whispered sitting up right next to me. "I don't know" I said back shaking my head. "It's as I told you. I want something I can't have" I said repeating words I had already said to her. She looked in both my eyes and moved up on her knees facing my direction, getting closer to me so her knees brushed against my leg. "What if I want something I can't have either." She said and I frowned at her. "What could you want that you can't have?" I said and she shrugged. "You. I've always found you attractive Shawn. And you like the same things as me. Besides, you actually listen to me when I need to rant to someone. It's just shit that you're my teacher" she smiled and shrugged. "I thought someone like you, a good student and a good girl would ever go for your teacher" I laughed and again she shrugged her shoulders. "I can't help it. Feelings are feelings. I don't even know what feelings I have for you Shawn. I just, i just know they're there" she said and my heart rate was increasing with every word she spoke. I turned to her more so my upper body faced her. I took in her face. Every inch of it. And she truly was beautiful. "This is wrong" I said twisting a piece of her hair in my fingers. "It's perfectly wrong" she said and leant in to my face pressing her lips to mine, cupping the side of my face. I moved my lips against hers and forgot about how wrong it was. I was lost in her lips. She moved in more so each of her knees were either side of my leg and I couldn't resist from holding her waist. Just as the kiss got faster she pulled back. "Oh my god. Oh my god" she stood up and ran her hands through her hair. "Hey Hey what's wrong?" I said as she had a little freak out. "Oh God we kissed. We were making out oh god you're- you're my teacher I'm so sorry Shawn" she said messing up her hair and her breathing got faster. "Hey look at me. Look at me." I said holding her arms, pulling her hands out from her hair. I pressed my lips to hers again for a second before pulling away. "I wanted that" I smiled and she seemed to calm down. "You're not mad?" "Hell no. What have I been telling you. I want something I can't have Faye. I want you"
