"We should go." Said Mekhi. "I don't fancy being caught out here at night."
"Isn't it already night time?" I murmured, tired. "It's dark."
"No!" Mekhi laughed. "When it's night time, you can't see a thing. It's just dark because there's too much foliage blocking out the sun. But it'll be pitch black soon. Then we'd be lost. So come on, Ash, Archer. Let's hop to it. How'd you find us anyway?"
"I followed Ash." Archer replied. "Why did you let him find you alone?"
Mekhi frowned. "Don't be daft, Archie." Archer scowled at the nickname. "Ash's really powerful, remember? He would just tell me using chorren if he was in trouble. " Mekhi continued. "Or he could use his magic to protect himself."
"He hasn't learnt how to use his powers properly, Mekhi! What would you have done if he got attacked?"
Mekhi seemed a lot less grumpy with Archer around. They must be close. Or maybe it was Ash... maybe Mekhi got angry easy when he was worried about Ash?
"I would've jumped to the rescue, obviously." Mekhi shrugged.
"And left Isaak?"
"Yeah. Ash is a lot more important then him." Mekhi said without hesitation.
I blinked. I tried to pretend that his words didn't bother me, but I felt my chest tighten uncomfortably. I was not having a good day.
"Mekhi." Ash scolded.
"What?" Mekhi sounded defensive.
I couldn't see, because I was staring at my feet, but I think Ash just shook his head.
"Ah! Here we are!" Announced Archer. "Alawa!"
I hadn't even noticed the row of houses. I stared at them blankly. I could see all the town from here. It looked more like a village. Small stone houses all clumped together. We entered the street, and we were surrounded by the houses.
"Wait." I stopped, forcing Mekhi to stop as well. Ash and Archer turned to look at me. "Is this really not Earth?"
"Really, it's not Earth." Promised Ash.
I swallowed, and nodded. "Okay."
"Don't worry," said Mekhi, "we'll keep you safe." He begins to untie us.
"Don't make a scene, Mekhi, even if something happens." Warned Archer. "We've already got Ash and an onama. We don't need any more reason to be picked on."
Mekhi shrugged. "Fine." He gave the rope back to Archer but gave me a look. "If you try anything, Isaak, you'll be tied up again." He clapped his hands. "Alright, it looks like your kind of tavern, Archer!" He laughed, pointing. I followed his gaze.
A large sign sat above the entrance to house, where much noise was coming out of. The sign read; 'The Archer's Inn'.
Archer scowled. "Shut up. While we're here call me Alex, okay? Got it? You too, Isaak."
"Sure thing... Alex." I muttered, wondering why but not really caring. Ash and Mekhi nodded, and we all entered the Archer's Inn.
It was a mess. People were everywhere. And some people... really weren't normal. Very few were dressed like humans, only about 5 others. At least we weren't the only ones. I saw a guy sitting by himself, sharpening his teeth with a file. Two girls and a guy sat giggling and talking, but the girls had long pointy ears. A group of girls and boys were sitting a round a large table eating things which looked like... bugs.
Something in the air was making my headache return, nice and sharp. Must be the chorren. I thought, shocking myself that I remembered what it was called.
We walked up and sat at the bar. The guy behind the counter wandered over, smiling lazily. His teeth practically shone in the dark bar.
"Hey. What would you guys like?" His voice was low and quiet. His green gaze lingered on me.
Archer smiled, sickly sweet. "Could I please have a room? For the four of us?"
The guy grinned, a strand of black hair falling into his emerald eyes. "One bed for all?"
"I really don't care. Whatever's cheapest." Archer's sickly sweet smile was fading.
The guy shrugged, handing over some keys. "Room 5. One gold." He held out his hand palm out. His hand was smooth, soft. Archer slapped the money into his palm, one big gold coin.
The green-eyed guy slipped over to me, leaning in, resting his chin on his hands. "My name's Julio, by the way." His sweet breath washed over me. "What's yours, little onama?"
"Isaak." I muttered, blushing.
"Isaak?" Julio smiled, reaching forward and tugging gently on a strand of my hair, watching it bounce back into its curl. "Cute."
I gaped at him, heart racing. What was with these Tabara people? Why were they all so attractive? If it keeps going on like this I'm probably going to die.
"Hey." Growled Mekhi. "Hands off."
"Mekhi, they're just talking." Scolded Archer. "Calm done." His tone had a warning undertone.
Julio watched the two carefully. Slowly his gaze fell back on me. He smiled coyly. "Drama, eh?"
"Huh, yeah." I shrugged, glancing at the table to stop staring at his green eyes. I traced the lines on the table. I wonder what breed this guy was. He couldn't be an onama, like me, otherwise he wouldn't have called me by my breed. And from what Mekhi said, an onama probably wouldn't have a job. But maybe they'd have a small job like this.
My baby Isaak is beginning to except the truth! Aww, I cry for him :'(
