I was in Ash's room, trying to keep myself calm. I don't know if you've noticed, but I started crushing on people really hard, really quickly. Maybe that's what Kyle was talking about. Maybe he was trying to say that I wasn't ready for a serious relationship yet. I was mentally too young, despite being 19 years old.
"Which way's the bathroom?" I asked as I scanned my eyes over his living area, dining room and kitchen. He must've moved in recently, because there wasn't much to see, other than some jeans hanging over the edge of the couch.
Ash opened a door over to the left. "Here."
I went inside and was surprised to see my face wasn't too bad yet. My nose looked a little red and swollen, and there was only a little bit of blood dried under it. My hands though looked like a killer's hands. I turned on the tap and scrubbed them hard, splashing water on to my face.
His bathroom was pretty empty as well. He had about one days worth of clothes in his basket, so I guessed that he hadn't been here long. Today must be his second day. I finished washing up and wandered back into the living space. Ash had turned on the TV and had poured himself a glass of water. I glanced around the room again, standing in the middle of the room with my hands stuffed in my pockets. The jeans had gone.
I looked back at Ash and jumped internally; he was watching me over the rim of the glass. His eyes were slightly narrowed. Was he suspicious of me? He lowered the glass, slowly.
"All good?"
"Uh, yep."
He pursed his lips and nodded, still watching me. "So you gonna go home now?"
"Oh, uh, yeah!" I smiled nervously and shrugged. I turned around to leave.
"Is there something bad at home?"
I turned back around, eyebrows creased. "What?"
He shrugged, looking concerned again. "You don't seem to want to go back home. Is there a reason?"
"Oh!" That was a deep question, and a hard one to answer. There wasn't much going on at home. Except my dad had been ignoring me since I came out as gay, which had in turn put pressure on my mum, who accepted me but was having trouble admitting it because she loved dad and didn't want to disappoint him. Mum had become snappy and irritable, and now had bags under her eyes and seems more prone to breaking things.
My little sister Jessie had no idea what was going on. She was only 6, and didn't really understand what 'gay' meant. I think she was getting upset about Mum and Dad. They were having arguments a lot late at night. Mum yelled at Jessie a lot for insignificant things. Dad kept trying to separate me and my sister, worried I'd pass on my 'disease'.
"There's nothing wrong at home." I told Ash.
He nodded. "Okay. See you later, maybe?"
"Yeah, sure." I nodded back, gave a little sad wave, and walked out. Straight into someone else.
It was a hard knock, we both staggered backwards. My headache flared back up and I put a hand to my head.
"Ow!" I whimpered. I glanced up. What the hell?
The guy looked up at me with a scowl. "Who are you?" He asked. He glanced at the door behind me. "And why were you in Ash's room?" Brown eyes glared at me suspiciously.
Shit. Was this guy gonna bash me? He's hot, but he seems pretty damn jealous. "I, uh..."
I felt a presence behind me. "Mekhi, it's fine. Sorry, Isaak. He's always moody."
I quickly removed myself from standing in between them. Mekhi still didn't look as if he approved of me being in Ash's room. Were they lovers or something? I guess it would make sense, they're both hell sexy. "Oh, no it's alright. I'm just... gonna... go. C'ya."
Why were there two new sexy guys hanging around town? This seemed... cliche, almost. I took the stairs down, as Ash was on the second floor, and waved at the receptionist as I left. He ignored me. "Whatever dude." I muttered under my breath.
I shoved through the push doors and walked down the street, the same way I did before; hunched back, head down and hands deep in my jacket pockets. Today has gotten... despairingly confusing.
Time to go home.
Bare with me guys! I know it's kinda slow but it's gonna get more exciting, trust me!
