SURPRISE!! Say hello to High Commander Mekhi-ran ;)

Mekhi's P.O.V:

He was walking; but only barely. I wish his mother had been more harsh on him, instead of bringing him up so protected and shielded from the world. If she had taught him more about the bad in some people, instead of purely the good; he wouldn't be so dead right now.

The thought of his mother; with her gentle smile and loving hands; sickened me. Pathetic, she was so pathetic. Who could bring up a child in this world and not teach them anything about the dark side of life?

He stumbled on the air, and I immediately stabled him, cursing the instincts that have grown on me over the past two years. I had been so engrossed in becoming the most trust-worthy and loyal bodyguard that sometimes even I forgot it was all a lie.

Words couldn't describe how mad I was. My hands were sore from forming firm fists, my eyes locked in an expression of fury, my teeth grinding over one and another, causing a dull ache in my jaw.

Any one of my men who dared talked to me cowered under my fiery gaze; they knew I could kill them if I wanted to. They knew I wanted to.

Our footsteps were echoing down the corridor as we approached the door. I looked at the frail boy next to me; physically, he was fine. But I knew he had drained his magic powers saving Isaak and killing those two men; and he had drained himself mentally, too.

He must have felt my gaze on him, because he turned his head to meet my eyes. They looked more grey than blue. The red flecks of blood were a stark contrast against his bleached skin. His face was still and blank; his eyes dull and dead. Again, his head dropped, and he continued to stare solemnly at the ground.

I wanted him to be able to lift his chin to my King. I wanted him to look Colm in the eyes and tell him that he'll never break.

But he was already broken.

And I had broken him. It was all my fault.

The footsteps stopped, as we halted in front of the door.

"Mekhi?" I turned to my second-in-command, the only one who wasn't bothered by the boiling emotions that were dripping off me like some sort of suffocating tar. "You just gonna keep standing there? You know he doesn't like to wait."

I scowled at her. "Ash." I growled, and he jolted at his name. "For fuck's sake, look alive."

He narrowed his eyes at me; the only emotion I'd seen in him since he woke up.

My second-in-command gave me a questioning look which I blatantly ignored. I shoved open the heavy doors, and the five of us entered the throne room.

"Ahhh! Kay-kay! I've been waiting." The playful voice reached every corner of the room. There he was. Seated on the throne as if he lived there. Lounged lazily, with his legs hooked over the arms of the chair, his cape flowing over the seat behind him. He shoved a hand into the black hair that was scattered over his features, revealing his amber brown eyes. "I see you have succeeded."

He swung himself off the chair, rising to his feet gracefully. His sword rattled softly at his waist as he strode towards us. Confidence and power oozed from the way he held himself, arrogance betrayed him in his crooked smirk, cleverness and knowledge beyond his age shined through his eyes. This was not a man, but a beast; and a dangerous one.

I wanted to break that hand which reached for Ash and lifted up his chin. I pushed down the nauseating urge to stab those eagle eyes as the studied the boy.

"What's wrong with him, Kay-kay?" Colm asked with his chocolate voice.

I shifted my feet. "He killed two of our men. He's never killed before... it's killing him."

"A softie, is he?" He caressed Ash's cheek, wiping away some of the blood. "How... adorable." As soon as his hands slipped away, Ash's head dropped down again, unresponsive and lifeless. My King glanced at the three men I brought in. "You are dismissed." They bowed and made their way out, probably glad to be away from the two of us.

"How have the two years away from home been, Mekhi?"

I reigned in my emotions as I suddenly found myself gazing into Colm's eyes. "Tiring. I'm glad I'm back."

A vague smile graced his lips, but didn't reach his eyes; it never really did. "Perfect. I'm happy you're in one piece. I don't know what I'd do without you, Kay."

"He won't want to work for you." I murmured.

Colm nodded. "I know. But he won't have much choice."

"You do know-"

"That magic isn't as strong when it is unwilling?" King Colm nodded. "Yes. I do." He tilted his head as he studied Ash again. "But I think I know how to persuade him. We have to wait until he is a bit stronger."

What do you want to do to him? I wondered, but didn't voice my thoughts. I couldn't care for Ash anymore; that lie was over now. It didn't matter what my King did to him; Ash was a weapon, a powerful one. Colm knew what he was doing, he always did.

"Mekhi." He placed a hand on my shoulder. "Take our new friend to his room. Untie him. Don't forget to lock the door. Then, you can rest." He smiled softly. "Truly, I am glad you're back. I missed you, Kay."

I allowed my expression to soften. "Thank you." I bowed. "I will see you soon, my King."

I grasped Ash's arms, that were tied behind his back, and we left the room.

Sorry this is late! I hope you like it :)

What do you think of the King Colm? Is he what you expected?
