Once Gordon has left the room I'm finally able to lift my head from my medallions. I had covered my face due to the fact of how embarrassed I'm feeling at the moment. The entire check up for me was cancelled because of Gordon's retorts to me. Dr. Meredith decided to let me skip a day of my station because of the rough morning I had, she also began apologizing for the actions of Gordon which made me feel completely worse.
I currently walk back to my cabin alone since Uncle Ben isn't gonna skip a day of his station because nothing is wrong with him. I wanted him to come with me because being alone is like being in an insane asylum. As I walk I feel a pair of eyes behind me and I stop to look behind me to just see no one looking and that's when I knew I am already going crazy. It's ludicrous.
"Hey!" The short bushy curly boy named Jacob runs over to me, wearing this blue and green flannel I've never seen on him before and also wears this grin on his face.
"Jacob aren't you supposed to be at your station?" I say to him stuffing my hands in Uncle Ben's sweater pockets looking at Jacob.
"No, our station leader was being an idiot and tried doing a flip and he injured his ankle, so I'm off for the day" He says standing in front of me and I crack a smile at his leader injury apparently instead of feeling pity.
"So how's it going?" He asks standing tall with his hands on his hips.
"I'm fine" I say but in reality I'm not because of the killer headache I'm having because of not eating and the stupid crying.
"Doesn't look like it?" He says probably noticing my red flushed eyeballs from my past crying and the embarrassment. I thought he wouldn't notice but sadly he's very good with people, he understands.
"Well I am" I continue walking to the cabin with Jacob beside me.
"Okay then, but here" He takes something in a napkin out of his flannel giving me such confusion.
"What's that?"
"I remember last time when were talking that you told me your favorite meal was a Breakfast Filler from the cafeteria and since you weren't here today, I decided to bring you one" He says handing me the wrapped filled in my hand, that is still warm. I look down at the it and back to Jacob. He's very thoughtful, cares about others than himself. It's what takes to be a good friend.
"Thank you Jacob"
"So what happened I didn't see you today at the cafeteria?" He says as we walk bumping into each other.
"I was doing some stuff in the office" I say to him not trying to give him any other information.
"That results to you breaking into tears Norman?"
"No, but something seems wrong in there Jacob" I say to him entering my cabin. As I walk in Jacob waits outside looking at me for approval.
"You can come in. Welcome to Norman's habitat" I say to him placing the Breakfast Filler on the kitchen island and take off the sweater I'm wearing because it tends to get stuffy in here when I burn some wood in the fireplace.
"You've got a nice cabin, I like it" Jacob says looking around.
"Thank you" I say taking a seat on the couch with my legs crossed. Jacob walks over and takes a seat next to me.
"So what seems so wrong in the office then Norman?" He asks laying his back down and with his head turn at me.
"Do you know who's Andrew Gordon?" I say.
"Yeah he is the head the camp, but no one has seen him"
"I have" I say bit disappointed in myself.
"Really! How was he like? I bet he was nice" He says looking at me with full attention.
"He isn't a nice person" I say shaking my head.
"Was he the reason you were like that outside?"
"Um, no, maybe, well kind of" I say looking at every look he has given me when he knew I lied.
"What did he do?"
"He told me I was vulnerable and frail and then I began to sweat from my eyes when he left, it was very embarrassing" I say looking down not wanting to look at his face because I can still feel the embarrassment in here.
"Fuck that guy, never seen him or met but still you're my friend, and I know a friend isn't like that" I'm shocked from his choice of words.
"Your something Norman, he's just an asshole" He says to me making me grin at another bad word he said.
"Thanks Jacob" I say and things go quiet for a minute until he breaks the silence.
"Alright then, let's go" He says slapping my knee and getting up from the couch.
"Where to?" I say as I look up at him.
"You're gonna go meet my friends right now"
