From far I can see her handing the sleeping powerless little boy to the young man which is my uncle. She tells him something and leaves with what seems like tears in her desperate eyes. She never turned back for one last look but entered the passenger seat of the car and drove off with a mysterious person driving beside her. She was in pain. She was devastated. She is my mother. I look down the street from where they drove off and they disappear by the turn of the street. Gone. I look back at the house to see the door shut leaving me in a quiet neighborhood. I'm about to walk to the house but the setting changes into a different biome. A forest. A dark one.
I see in front of me a cabin that is lit up with lights inside and the same car that drove off in the driveway parked. Is my mother in there? I turn around and it's a lonely road and beyond that is nothing more than just trees that doesn't seem like it'll end. I walk up to the cabin to see by the windows my mother safe and sound on the outside but not so good in the inside. She rubs her temples and I see a tear fall down her cheeks. Is she crying because of me? She wipes the tears away and takes a deep breathe. She grabs her bag taking out a pistol having me flustered.
I rush opening the door where I can hear the television broadcast get cut off to some important news about strange sightings. I move past the television and immediately stand in front of her staring down where she is sat on the couch holding the pistol in her hand. Don't let it eat you away. She stares at the gun like it's her savior. Please don't.
She gets up and makes her way to one of the bedrooms here. I follow right behind her to see she isn't doing anything reckless. She stands under the door frame as she just looks at a person in the shadows sitting on the edge of the bed with a hand going through his hair. I can't see his face, it's hidden in the darkness.
"How far are we?" I hear my mother's delightful voice even when it cracks here and there often. I don't mind it.
"Pretty far" The mysterious voice come from the shadows that bewilders me. Who's with my mother? Who is she speaking to? I hear a sigh of despair come straight out my mother and I know she isn't taking it well.
"He's safe. They're far from the boy's reach" The person in the darkness tries to soothe my mother with his words, it helps but not much to stop her worries.
"How long till they get here?" Mom asks.
"By dawn, we are already moving by then"
"They will end up catching us" I hear footsteps come from the room making its way to my mother who seems afraid and not knowing what to do with any of this that she is going through. I can see the man getting closer to my mother, he's taller than her. He's still unrecognizable to me. He comes closer. The light from the hallway begins to reveal his bare skin up to his chest, neck and finally his face. I stay in shock just looking directly into those ice cold blue eyes from the man.
"They won't lay a single finger on him, not over my dead body" I shake my head ignoring his voice. I clench my fist. How can I be so stupid! I struggle with control. This is just a dream. No this is a nightmare.
"The truths shall set you free my child" I hear the dark voice enter my mind and disturb me. Leave me alone!
This is not real.
I wake from my slumber but in an instant to the same old ceiling that remembers me that I was just dreaming. It was all false. Nothing to worry about. I look out seeing the hint of light that isn't covered by the curtains. The sky's no longer night but morning. I look beside me to see a resting Roxy that smells incredibly good from yesterday's bath. I turn my head to Uncle Ben's bed that is cold and empty. He left hunting already but didn't say goodbye. I feel a bit down due to that but to something much different that is after me. I don't worry about it because it always end up being nothing important.
