We stop near this dry plain old tree that leans on the fence which is the end boundary of the camp. I never been so far from my cabin before, nor have I came this far to see the boundaries. So they just wanted to show me the end of the camp? Cool. I guess but then Margaret begins to climb up the tree and then Dean does as well after, they crawl down the branch that aids them to get down easier. Now that I saw they were already on the other side of the camp.
"Wait, I can't go over to the other side, we can get in trouble" I say stepping back into Bones as he just moves away from me and purposely bumping into Jacob saying something I didn't hear properly.
"It's okay Norman. Nothing is going to happen. We've done this plenty of times" Jacobs tries convincing me but it isn't working.
"Yeah, you guys have but not me. That's crazy" I say to him.
"It's gonna be fine. We got you. Nothing is going to happen to you. I promise" Jacob says and then I gave in after a couple of minutes I was already climbing up the tree.
I look down at Dean who has to catch me. I'm afraid. Really afraid. Not about Dean catching me but leaving the camp. I'm just thinking about the big punishment I'm gonna get if Uncle Ben found out I left the camp. I fall into Dean and look back at the fence. I'm so busted. I exhale air calmly. I just left the camp. There's no way I can turn back now. I'm already on the other side.
"Norman come on" Jacob says and I follow him.
"It's okay, look we're still alive. I got you" He says.
"It's not this that I'm worried about, it's what's outside here" I say to him looking around so far nothing just a bunch of trees but as I walk down on the orange-brown leaves that rest on the wet soil I begin to feel sun rays hit my skin in total pleasure, the wind's breeze sending shivering down my back also within the twirls of my fingers and the smell of rain that I begin to inherit. I then feel my muscles loosen up from how tense they were and the weight on my shoulders lifted into the pool of mesmerizing colors that is the sky.
After walking farther from the camp we take a break near a small lake for some dried beef and cheese. Bones didn't want to eat, he just sat on a rock giving me glares often. I was gonna confront him but I didn't want to put more fuel into that fire. Margaret and Dean are both splashing water at each other and Jacob sitting near me laughing at the others. They are funny how they act with each other. It motivated me up a bit.
"How far to our destination?" I ask to Jacob.
"Not that far, we're halfway there" He says and Bones gets up and leaves. I didn't look at him because I knew I'll receive another glare but Jacob saw it.
"I'm sorry if he's bothering you" Jacob says and I just get up and go to Bones who's near this tree. Once I see him I finally confront him. What's his deal with me? It sickens me already.
"What's your deal with me?" I say to Bones who is pissing on a tree and he looks at me then into something else ignoring my presence. He is about to leave until I step in his way.
"Move. Now" He demands.
"No" I say never been this brave in my life.
"Why are you being a douche?"
"I haven't done anything to deserve your frustration"
"I said move or else" He says and I see his fist ball up. He wants to punch me. Do it. If that's what it takes to get him to stop being so bitchy then fine. Go ahead.
"Do you want to hit me? I say and he instantly responds mad as ever. Just like pouring fuel into the raging fire.
"Yes I do because I'm so fucking frustrated! I want to take my frustration on your face! I want to beat the living shit out of you until you bleed! Until I feel human again"
"Then go ahead. Do it. If that's what it takes to be okay" I prepare for impact until I get saved from the rest of the group but mostly Jacob.
"Stop! No you're not punching anyone. Bones you can let out your anger on somebody else but not Norman. We didn't come here for a fight. We came to enjoy ourselves" Jacob says like if he were a father and I still don't believe it is me standing up to Bones like that. I stand behind Jacob as Bones begins to get less mad.
"This is our fun place. Not a war zone" Jacob says and I didn't even know we were going somewhere fun.
"So no more of this. You either be friends or not talk at all" It's quiet. I wanted to be friends with him from the start but he chose not to by just passing by me.
"Fine" I say under my breath feeling a pang in my chest. I should've just kept my mouth shut like I always do.
"Alright then, Norman is with me and Bones is with you guys" Jacob says to Margaret and Dean and we continue our way to this so call fun place. The rest of the way was a silent way. I can hear the trees rustling and the crunching from stepping on the leaves. This silence was deafening.
"Are we almost there?" I say quietly to Jacob.
"Yeah just over those rocks there" He points at the huge rocks near a fallen tree that's a bridge to go over this small going stream.
"Alright here we are" Margaret says with a warm smile at me and I smile back at her. Margaret climbs first, Bones then Dean. I go right after him with a bit of help by Jacob.
"Norman, welcome to the club" Jacob says as I look directly into the most normal thing I've seen in forever.
