Uncle Ben and I walk straight out of the city without making no type of conversation with ourselves yet. I am no mood for any talking so I kept completely quiet. I didn't feel in such a good mood for anything really. I am still in pain from what had occurred yesterday. I wanted that memory erased from my head. It is a constant reminder and a disturbance to me. I never wanted to talk about it with anyone. Not even with Uncle Ben.
The entire morning I've been out of it. I didn't respond as much anymore. I would get hungry but choose not to eat anymore either. I feel like I am in this bubble that nothing goes in or out. I now can say that I am depressed. I didn't doubt that I wasn't this time.
"Bud?" I hear a call and it's Uncle Ben who walks behind me.
"Huh?"
"I said we are almost here" He informs me.
"Okay" I say but continued moving.
I stare directly of what lies ahead of us both and it was a wet road filled with so many abandoned cars everywhere. We walk around them avoiding to try pulling something on it or it'll go off. Suddenly Uncle Ben calls to stop where I stand I do.
I turn to him where he does absolutely nothing but keeping his ears open. He hears something and then I begin to hear it too, it sounded so much like a radio static. Uncle Ben moves his feet closer to the vehicle beside him as slow as possible. I then felt as if all this was gonna be a trap again. Luckily it isn't. We get closer to this specific greenish grayish car that has its doors wide open and left their radio on which caused the noise.
Uncle Ben digs his head in the car where he begins messing with the radio. He gets in the driver seat turning up the radio to hear much more what's on. I hear closely and we are able to hear a voice.
"This is him"
I had quickly remembered where I heard that. It's when I was inside Dr. Meredith's office and her radio went off out of nowhere. I focus clearly on the radio.
"This is him"
"This is the resistance"
"You are not alone" It afterwards cuts off to a radio message.
"....Thursday. November 12th. Good morning to all the remaining survivors out there. Uh-m we all know about the incident in Camp 5 that had occurred days ago, I had my men out there and it's difficult to say that the camp filled with children and survivors has been invaded. Yesterday morning when the smoke cleared the entire camp was seen as empty and completely destroyed ...."
At this moment I didn't know what to do next, everything just seems to be going bad. Everything has all gone to shit. It's gone. It's all gone. My friends are gone. My stuff is gone. My home is gone. It's all gone.
"That's all for this message... Stay safe and keep on fighting..." After that Uncle Ben turns that thing off and I just stare directly at the road feeling not so good right now. I feel my lip began to quiver and Uncle Ben stands up angrily, piercing his axe through a car window. His axe dug deeply in the rust of the vehicle in pure anger. He had friends that were close to him and so did I. We were finally broken. This is the point that got to us.
I guess you can finally say we've been through the the worst now. We got shot at, We lost my dog, some creatures tried to kill us, I almost got raped and now we lost people that were just trying to survive. All is going downhill for us. It's been terrible ever since we got down here. Ever since I began putting the pieces together.
Why do I deserve this?
Why is everything all going bad?
Everything is getting so confusing to me.
I look back at Uncle Ben who has his head resting on a car door. I go over to him where he gets up and launches his axe to the car behind sounding a loud car alarm. I get in his way that makes him stop doing anymore damage to the car that spews a loud repetitive alarm.
"Uncle Ben stop" I say to him and he looks completely in pain. He looks down at me and analyzes my tired beaten up face. The palm of his hand cups my semi forming bruised cheek. Once he comes in contact I feel the stinging sensation return and I wince painfully. Him seeing my bruised up cheek isn't a good idea since it poured more fuel into his raging fire.
"Who did that?" He asks me with his fixed pissed off attitude. In his eyes they are no longer colored but turned into something dark. Pure mesmerizing darkness that spooked me.
He knew who exactly caused that bruised I just don't want the memories to come swarming back. I don't say anything it hurts to see those images back. I shake my head and tell him we need to keep on moving before someone hears the alarm of the car and we do finally.
Throughout the rest of the walk I don't try to say anything because how hungry and tired I've gotten. I haven't been sleeping right anymore but when I do I have nightmares it involves something with those creatures or what happened at the restaurant. It's gotten to the point that I need Uncle Ben next to me to sleep or else I wouldn't be able to go sleep at all. It's been led to that now.
It's either Uncle Ben or nothing.
The rest of the day we just kept on walking where Uncle Ben said we had to go. Uncle Ben lost his fire once I came in more contact with him. The day is spent by just walking to our destination. We were supposably almost there but where we are walking into didn't seem so safe. It all seemed very secured and dangerous.
My knife is clutched to my hand as I take a good look around our location. So dirty and abandoned. We had entered what seems to be a piece of a town. The buildings are very close, abandoned and they face each other. They all go down the street which is filled barricades all over, probably traps that are ready for anyone. On the walls of the lonely buildings had tagging all over them. The red colored tagging read stuff such as 'danger zone' or 'keep out' but the one that really caught my eyes is one that read 'TP'. It's on the wall and I didn't understand it. What did it pronounce?
I look over to Uncle Ben who is walking carefully and with his axe readied to be sunk into someone. "What does TP mean?" I ask Uncle Ben who looks around the place.
"I don't know but seems stupid" He says. It doesn't really make sense to tag that on the wall. I understand the other sayings and drawings but not this one. It's not a really good idea. It did seem quite stupid.
I'm done looking around at the tagged up walls when a specific red juicy apple waits on a counter in a dark evacuated store. Hunger consumes me so I walked over to it entering the small destroyed deli as Uncle Ben calls me to get away from there.
