Chapter 30

Finding Uncle Ben kept me moving, I didn't stop for anything because I knew I don't have that much time. I needed to look for Uncle Ben or his life would've been on the line. I don't know or care who is going after Uncle Ben but I'm gonna make sure I'll be there on time to prevent an attack from ever happening. I'll be there to help take down who's ever after him. I'll prove to Gordon I'm not frail.

I clutch my bow in my hands with a mighty grip as Jacob, Bones, Margaret, Dean and I walk through these woods not seeing any infected lately. It's been awfully quiet around here and it's not right. There's something going on. It can't be like this. We remain walk through these woods keeping our eyes open in every single moment as we hear the jokes that come from Dean. Suddenly I stop resting my feet in the wet soil and I begin to catch something in my ears. It's some type of noise I can't put a finger on it. It's kind of the sound of ticking. I know I hear it but to the others they look at me as if I'm crazy for hearing something in my imagination. Jacob looks at me and up to the sky as he tries to hear what I'm listening.

"What is it?" Bones says as he looks over to me.

"Do you guys hear that?" I say and they get quiet to hear simply nothing.

"I don't hear anything" Margaret says to me.

"I hear ticking" I respond back but no one is able to catch it.

"We gotta keep on moving forward" Bones commands and we do.

"So Norman, what do you think the prize will be?" Dean asks me but I am honestly not looking forward for no prize but my Uncle Ben.

"I'm not sure" I respond to him.

"Probably a big fuck you to the face" Speaks Bones who takes lead.

"Sounds pleasant" Dean comments and we continue moving until we feel as if no one followed us.

As we kept on going farther through these cold woods I couldn't help myself but sense this saddening harming feeling deep in my chest that makes me move slower than ever. Afterwards came in the thoughts of losing Uncle Ben again linger in my mind and I try ignoring them but all it does drown me into that never ending guilt resulting for me to believe that I wasn't there fast enough to save Uncle Ben. I can't lose him.

"Hey, don't worry we'll find him and you'll see him again" Jacob helps me up from the log I sit on.

Suddenly from the far distance I'm able to catch a quick glimpse at the knife heading my direction before I plunge backwards to the ground where I see that same sharp lethal knife get pierced into the thick bark of the tree I stood in front of. My eyes fall below to reveal a girl with her hair in braids deliver a nasty grin as she runs over with knives in her hand with two other infected campers by her side.

"Move!" I hear the loud voice of Bones and Dean helps me up from the ground and we begin running all together around the entire arena.

Coming straight ahead of Bones an infected camper takes a thrust worthy swing at Bones with his sword and in a second Bones is able to dodge it which only earns him a trim on his thick black hair. Jacob with his boot sends that same camper back with a forceful kick. We remain running with infected campers getting really close to us. I take an arrow from my sheath and I have a perfect shot to slow them down. I pull my bow up and aim and as I am about to let go of the bow string I get taken down by another infected making me fall completely all over the ground.

I pick my head up to see them coming. I lunge for my bow that landed on a log but a pair of hands fall on my ankles hauling me towards the infected camper. He reaches for his weapon but I shove my shoe in his face. I get up from the ground and take my bow in my free hands where the grip on my bow remains tight when I take a powerful swing at the face of the infected camper. I take another arrow from my sheath quickly and draw the string of my bow backward but I look over to see another one bring down his sword to me. I slide out of his way and he kept on coming after me but Margaret lunges on him bringing him down to his knees in an instant. She then gets elbowed to her face but that doesn't stop her and she demonstrates how she won't be taken down by no man. Dean runs over taking his spear and showing no mercy to an infected. Bones gets involved in a fist fight where he's taking some solid hits to his face that only results in him getting even more frustrated.
