The two campers are bawling on the ground right in the very center and the devastating thing is that they are kids like me. They are young and they were put to the ground so brutally, my heart breaks and I get closer and closer to the scene. I don't blink from what I see but capture the entire thing happening. I hear the yells of the campers saying to let them go but from what I see maybe it's their mother, who is getting held back by guardians as she cries and yells seeing her children about to earn a shot to their skull. I look at Gordon who gives a blank look at the young ones getting the treatment. The punishment.
What has been going around here since I have been asleep? This is just crazy.
This camp has gone crazed.
"In order of the law in the camp anyone who lays near the main field shall be exiled or sentenced to death" I hear Gordon's messenger say out loud to the crowd. No one's doing anything they just stand and looking upon eagerly and say what they needed to say. They weren't brave enough to stand up. It's until one brave soul pushes through the guardians and is now what everyone seeks. It's a male camper who can't tolerate this no longer like me. Weapons are aimed at him for his bravery but never locked away from him. That's gotta be a lot of pressure for him to have. He raises his hands in the air for surrender but begins to talk.
"Please don't do this, they are clueless about all this. They are just kids-"
"Kids who have broken the camp law. We have rules here and if you disobey you get punishment" Gordon says sternly to the man who is brave enough to do this but might end up getting shot. I hope he doesn't .
"Just let them go" He pleads to Gordon and the gun on the kids get pointed further to their heads it makes them kids squeal and hearing them sobbing tore me apart and probably the other campers.
"I won't" Gordon tells him confidently. I then feel a hand on my wrist it's Uncle Ben.
"Norman you shouldn't be out of bed" He says to me and takes me away from here not to see this brutality of children.
"Uncle Ben they need help" I say and he ignores my comment. I get taken out of the crowd and we meet up with Dr. Meredith who just looks at the entire thing. She has tears welled up in her eyes and she knew she couldn't stop Gordon all the way. No one can do it. It's rare to stop him also it take the guts to change the mind of monster. It takes a lot of guts. Then the crowd gasps loudly and I knew something has happened. After a couple of seconds of silence, gunfire is finally heard. I felt terrible, like I've been inserted with a shard of glass right through my chest. We begin to walk away and I see behind me those two same aged kids run towards me with guardians followed behind them with guns aimed at them.
My hands open wide and the campers stand behind my cover as the guardians aim their guns at me now.
"Move away from the vermins or we shall terminate you also" Says one of the guardians who I may be afraid of.
"You won't take them" I say to the guardians and the crowd faces me now. I have now gotten the attention. I see Gordon walk his way toward the situation. He begins laughing and clapping his hands together. Why is he laughing? What's his deal with me?
"Leave Norman before I will have them kill you too" He stands in front looking at me all drenched from the rain. I can see the droplet of rain fall down the strand of hair that hangs from his.
"No chance that I will" I say and Dr. Meredith walks up front in my way. She covers all of us now like a mother bird protecting her children.
"Leave it there Andrew. Give them a chance. They didn't know" He didn't listen but commanded them closer to retrieve the campers behind me. I get pushed out of the way and they take the campers who get hauled everywhere. Their screams of the siblings made things much difficult to resist fighting back.
"Remember Beth! She wouldn't have wanted any of this" Dr. Meredith yells breaking up this chaotic disagreements and cruelty. Gordon stops and doesn't do anything but weakens. His body remains frozen in complete shock. He stays still, taking in his wicked mind what had just been said.
"This the last time it will occur. I'll be the one to make sure of that" She says and Uncle Ben pulls me to him. I look at Gordon who looks down at the ground and commands to let them go finally. They do and release their clutch on their arms.
"Just this once" He says hearing the sorrow come from his mouth and leaves with his guardians somewhere, I don't care about.
We return to the room and I stay in currently with Bones and we brought the victims of Gordon's punishment example, who are way too shocked to be calmed down at the moment. I don't blame them they just had a gun pointed at their heads! They are shivering like crazy, they wouldn't stop and they also look absolutely terrible. They aren't handling it well either. It's horrible that they have been put in this situation.
I sit on the comfortable bed as I look at the two campers who are trying to be calmed down. Uncle Ben stands near the door frame with his hands crossed paying attention to the conversation that has come up.
"What's your names" I say to them.
"My name is Daisy" Says the girl.
"And I'm Codes" Says the boy.
"Why were you two out in the field?" Asks Dr. Meredith who had just come back from having a talk with their mother.
"Our cabin is next to the field and we heard noises coming from in there, so we both wanted to check it out. The noises weren't helping us sleep" Daisy says as she remembers what had occurred to her.
"My brother and I sneaked over and entered without disturbing the Guardians who protected the area. We thought it was just the wind making that noise but we were wrong. There was something out there in the main field. We were too scared to see it but it was there. We knew it was there. We heard something and I'm not crazy that we heard it....." That's when she couldn't say no more. She broke down crying again. What could be possibly in the field.
"and that's how we ended up with a gun pointed to us, if it weren't for you we would have been dead" Codes says and looks at me with gratitude.
"Thank you so much" Daisy says as she wipes the tears from her cheeks.
"Thank you, thank you..." She keeps on saying and then I feel the movement come behind me. It came from Bones whose trembling crazy in his sleep. It's something that I have never experienced before from him or anyone.
