(4 months old- middle of December)
An entire month had passed since we were in Great Britain. Although we originally wanted to celebrate Christmas there (that was the reason I renovated it after all) we later decided to rather celebrate it here. We wouldn’t stay here much longer and everyone somehow loved this greenish and rainy town.
I just carried Carlie on my hip through the house looking for Nessie. She thought it would be funny to play hide and seek. Edward and Bella were having some alone time at their cottage, so we looked after her. The other four were Christmas shopping in Seattle.
I was already in the kitchen, living room, her own room and nearly all of my kids’ rooms. I sighed. Carlie wiggled her chubby arms with joy. “You like running around, eh?” I asked her laughing.
“Ba, ba, ba,” she answered me and clapped her hands. I kissed her curly blonde hair. It grew quite fast, I would say. She had a red hair band with a flower in her hair and wore a fitting red dress with tights.“Let’s find Renesmee, shall we?” I made a funny face at her and rocked her a bit. She laughed hugely. “Oh, Carlisle,” I moaned.
“Yes, honey?” he asked from his office. I walked inside and watched him sitting at his desk with a big medicine book in his hands.
“I cannot find Nessie, she must be here somewhere,” I said exasperated and moved my free arm up in the air in frustration. Then I heard a small giggle from the corner. Carlisle smiled at me knowingly. “Well, I would have asked her if she wanted to bake some cookies. But if she’s not here, Carlie and I will do that alone, right Carlie?” she laughed again. She was our little sunshine.“I’m here, I want to bake cookies,” Renesmee said suddenly and jumped up from her hiding place. I looked at her with mock surprise, before we all laughed.
She ran to me and hugged me. “Are we really baking cookies?”“If you want to,” I smiled down at her.
“Let’s go,” she laughed and tucked on my dress.
“I’m coming,” I laughed and walked outside.
“Wait, I’m coming, too,” Carlisle said and walked next to me.Nessie and I prepared the dough for chocolate cookies. The only cookies she liked. Carlisle was playing with our daughter on the kitchen counter. She was propped up and sat with the assistance of her father. She had a piece of paper towel in her small hands and had fun ripping it apart and trying to taste it. Carlie giggled every time Carlisle put it away from her mouth. She really thought that this was the most hilarious game. Carlisle always made a funny face when she put it near her mouth and looked surprised when she ripped it.
So the kitchen was filled with laughter the entire time.
“Can I put the dough on the baking tray, Grandma?” Renesmee asked.
“Of course, just be careful,” I instructed. She made it perfectly and fifteen minutes later, the cookies were in the oven. I walked over to the iPod station and turned some Christmas music on. Renesmee looked at me surprised.I then started singing along the lyrics of “We wish you a Merry Christmas” and soon after she sang with me. Carlie watched both of us for a minute with those big eyes until she clapped and bobbed to the music. Carlisle picked her up and danced with her.
“Cookies are ready,” I called and all three went inside, well Carlie on Carlisle’s arm. “But they’re still hot, Nessie, you have to wait a little bit longer,” I said. She pouted but was happy again pretty fast when I swung her around to the music again.
Carlisle handed me Carlie and I swung her around as well as he now did to Nessie. She giggled and watched me and her surroundings curiously.
“We’re home with lots of presents,” Alice called and the front door slammed shut.
“Stupid snow,” Rose muttered and shook the snow from her hair. Nessie ran to them and hugged Alice and Rose.
“Don’t your favorite uncles get a hug?” Emmett asked. She thought about it for a moment to make them laugh and then swung herself at them.
