The next two days were quite calm and cozy. I would kiss Carlisle goodbye in the morning and then spent some time cleaning up or relaxing until Carlie would wake up. Then we would go for a walk, play together or meet with our neighbors until Carlisle would be home.
It was already raining in the early morning and it continued to do so till midday. I actually planned to go for a walk in the park today, but it was raining too much. Carlie was fascinated by the amount of rain clapping against the windows.
I decided that I could start the play room now as well. I grabbed Carlie and walked into the play room. She played with her toys in one corner and I started to draw the outlines of the image I wanted on the walls. I wanted it to resemble a fairytale forest just as the one in London. As soon as Carlie was older I would attach a swing in here and transform it into a comfortable haven for her.
When I was finished with that, I mixed colors to get the right one and started to paint.
Hours later I was covered in paint from head to toe but the first wall was finished. I lifted Carlie into my arms and made a photo of both of us with the wall in the background and sent that one to Carlisle and Alice. Both liked the image and found that we look sweet together in our outfits (Alice said that).
I cleaned myself up and changed into sweatpants. It was nearly time for Carlisle to come home. I made the meal for Carlie and made something for me and we ate. Carlie babbled and laughed from time to time. I fed her calmly.
I was on the verge of falling asleep but Carlie prevented that. I held myself awake with lots and lots of coffee. After dinner I sat Carlie on a blanket and surrounded her with toys so that I could relax a bit on the couch in the living room.
“Mama! Wa…” she told me and showed me a ball. I smiled at her and sat next to her on the ground to play. I grabbed one of the books and sat her on my lap. It was a book on farm animals. “That is a duck. It makes quack-quack,” I said and imitated the noise. She watched me in wonder and clapped. “Qua… qua,” she responded. “Exactly,” I laughed.
“And this is dog. He always barks: wow-wow.” She wobbled in my arms. I turned the page, Carlie squealed as she saw the cat. “Yes, that is a cat. She makes meow,” I said and smiled. “mow,” she mimicked the sounds. I kissed her head and continued with more animals.
I walked into the kitchen for a second after we read the story to get Carlie a bottle of water. I could then hear the front door unlocking and soon after I heard Carlisle stepping in. I walked into the hall and kissed him.
“Hello, Carlie,” Carlisle greeted her from the distance and waved at her. She squealed and rolled on her stomach, suddenly though Carlie started unsteadily to crawl forwards. Carlisle crouched down and reached his arms towards her. She smiled at both of us and was slowly getting over to us. Before she could drop to the floor, Carlisle lifted her up and cuddled her.
“That was amazing, Carlie!” he smiled proudly. I hugged her, too and we both showered her with kisses. She was content with herself and relaxed in my arms.
Carlisle walked upstairs to get changed and returned minutes later and played with Carlie in the living room.
I sat on the couch and told Alice and Rose the news. Rose responded immediately:
“No way! I missed my baby sister’s first crawling :-( Give Carlie a big kiss from me. I miss you guys so much!!”
Alice responded similarly and told me that Jasper was thrilled and couldn’t wait to see it. Like on cue, the phone rang. I jumped up and got the phone.
“Esme Cullen,” I introduced myself. “Good evening, Mrs. Cullen. This is your son Edward Cullen speaking,” he joked. “Oh, Edward. How are you doing?” I asked and Carlisle looked up when he heard that it was Edward.
