7…6…5…4 days!
I didn’t get tired of enjoying the fact that I was in Carlisle’s arms. He woke me up this morning and kissed me. I would have never thought how much I need love, especially Carlisle’s love. I guess, you only know how much you need it when it’s gone. And I couldn’t even find words for how I felt to have Carlisle back. I knew that the days get less and the day of the battle is coming closer, but in my happy bubble time didn’t mean anything; so I was happy to live our chaotic and not so normal life again.
I had nearly forgotten that the rest of the family was still clueless that I was pregnant. Bella told me this morning, when we met in the hall between the bedrooms, that apart from Edward and her nobody knew. Alice had practically tried to kill Edward for not telling her, Bella had told me. I had told her to tell them right away and then she hugged me and went back over to their room. I got ready and then walked back into our bedroom. Carlisle was sitting on the bed and smiled at me when I walked inside. “We should tell them,” I told him. “We will,” he smiled lovingly at me and took my hand to pull me over to him. I kissed him and he sat me on his lap to deepen the kiss. “I’ve missed you,” he murmured between kisses. “You have no idea,” I murmured and held him close with my arms. “But we should get downstairs. Alice and Rose are pacing around for half an hour now,” Carlisle chuckled. “I couldn’t blame them.” He took my hand and we went downstairs together.
I couldn’t see the wolves or the Denalis, but I thought they were over at Bella’s and Edward’s house because they wouldn’t all fit in here. And maybe the Denalis were out hunting, I didn’t know. “There you are,” Rose called and embraced me. She looked up and was worried. “I’m fine, really,” I assured her. She looked at me some more and then let go.
“So? Carlisle knows, now it’s our turn,” Rose said out straight. “Rose,” Edward muttered. “It’s okay. I was the one hiding it for too long,” I soothed Edward. “It’s not bad news anyway,” Edward whispered and shook his head when Rose scowled at him.
I opened my mouth, but Bella walked into the room and held a sleepy Carlie. “She just woke up,” Bella told me and winked. I looked at her confused. I took my daughter in my arms and she cuddled to my shoulder at once. Carlisle stroked her cheek and gave her a kiss on her golden curls. Bella motioned to Carlie’s shirt and I looked at it closer. She wore a pink long-sleeved shirt with the words “Big sister” on it. I laughed and showed it to Carlisle. “Thank you, this is really sweet,” I laughed. Bella smiled and then walked over to Edward.
“Esme…” Alice groaned.
She was still pacing around in worry. I sighed and let Carlie down. She stood steadily and because she was still sleepy, she held my fingers to assist. Like that we walked over to Alice. I lifted Carlie up so that Alice could clearly see the shirt. She stared at it for a moment with an unreadable expression. Then she squealed and jumped up and down. “No way, that is so sweet!” she said and the last bit was at least an octave higher. “That was the thing I was worrying about the entire time?” she asked, but it wasn’t reproachful. I think she was just relieved that it was good news. She took Carlie from me and showered her with kisses. I wasn’t sure Carlie knew what was happening to her, but she squealed with her sister.
“So much excitement in the morning, huh, Carlie?” Edward asked her laughing. So she was exactly thinking what I had thought.
“Tell me,” Rose demanded. We nearly had forgotten about the rest. Alice turned Carlie around so that Rose, Jasper and Emmett could read it, too. Carlisle in the meantime went to stand behind me and lay his hands on my shoulders. Rose understood at once and engulfed me in a hug. Jasper followed suit and hugged both me and Carlisle and Carlie of course.
