A/N: I'm on a writing spree! Lol, hope this doesn't sound horrible. Excuse any grammar or spelling problems.
Chapter 3- Tripping and Falling
I wait outside the engineering room with Aidan. We talk about sports. I feel like that’s all we do, but it’s quite entertaining. Then Alexandra and her ENTIRE clique walk over, also waiting. Let me count, 1 2 3 4 of her best friends are with her. I think that’s the best thing about engineering, everyone’s there. But I can also tell she had too much sugar during lunch. She’s laughing hysterically. I love that about her, shecan laugh loud, do as she likes, and not care about what people think about her.
Aidan asks Violet what happened to her. She answers that Alexandra had some sort of energy drink in her lunch. That totally explains it. No more words needed.
The 7th graders exit the engineering classroom, going in all different directions.
“IZZIE!” she yells.
“ALEX!” another girl shouts back. But because the commons is so loud already, their shouts are unnoticed by the teachers. Even though they do this about everyday.
We shuffle inside, kind of stumbling over each other. That’s when we really start tripping.
Violet’s roller backpack is not helping Alexandra in her hyper state. She walks in, forgetting that Violet has a roller. She trips, and that’s when the weirdest thing happened. I caught her. I caught the girl of my dreams. I mean it wasn’t big or anything. Except I felt a rush, as I basically hugged her from behind.
“I’m so sorry Alex,” Violet apologizes over and over. Do all her friends call her Alex? I thought something like Lexi, or even shorter, Lex, would suit her better.
“It’s no biggie,” she replies.
I let go of her. But just as I think shedidn’t notice I caught her, she whispered, just in my ear, “Thanks Devin. I’m such a klutz.”
“No prob,” I say, trying to look as cool and collected as possible. She winked at me and smiled. Then she walked away to sit down in her assigned seat next to Nathan. I felt so awesome. The way she said my name. It was like sweet, honey. And she fit so perfectly in my arms. The rest of class was somewhat exciting. We started building our bridge. Actually, more like Violet started to build our catapult. I spent most of the time talking to her. She was so easy to talk to, too. It’s like I could tell her anything. But, class had to end, just like all other things. This day is turning into the best day of my life.
