I was kinda scared at what she had in mind when she said that. It sounds wussy, I know. But she refused to tell me what we were gonna do. All she did was grab a purse, sunglasses, twenty dollars and told her mom we were gonna be out for a couple of hours.

“So, where are we going again?” I asked.

“It's a surprise,” she said. That was the sixth time I had asked. She had led me to town center. It was like downtown, but smaller.

We arrived at Jamba Juice and Alexandra went up the cashier asking for a strawberry something. Then she looked at me expectantly, and I got the hint. I ordered a raspberry rush, and was about to get some money out when Alexandra shooed my hand away. “It's my surprise, remember?” She paid for our drinks and we waited.

“What are we gonna do?” I asked. I was kinda tired of asking this question.

“Surprise,” she answered. Same as every time I asked.

We got our drinks and she led me to Five Guys Burgers and Fries. I wasn't that hungry, but Alexandra went in and ordered a large fries. Now that I think of it, I'm kinda hungry. I tried to pay again, but she still wouldn't let me. This was kinda frustrating.

Next we went to the beautiful park right next to town center. Alexandra brought a blanket (which I didn't notice as we left the house) and laid it down in the grass, right in front of the lake. She sat down and gave me a look that said 'I'm not gonna bite you, sit next to me.' I did sit next to her a painful amount away, even though it was just about an elbow's reach.

“Still want to play twenty questions?” she asked me suddenly. We just sat there for awhile drinking smoothies and eating fries. Then she asked.

“Sure.”

“You go first.”

“Okay, what is your perfect first date?”

“A movie, then diner. Preferably a comedy, so I can laugh my head off. For diner, even though I love Olive Garden, sushi would be amazing. Then a nice cuddle sesh while my date and I watch Friends.”

“Wow, never thought we had so much in common.”

“Why? What's your perfect first date?”

“A comedy, then diner. Anything really for diner, except fast food. That's just un-gentlemanly. I like to cuddle, but somewhere scenic. Somewhere beautiful. I would kiss her goodnight, because I always kiss on the first date.”

“Hmm, sounds familiar.”

“I would think so.”

“What's your perfect girl?”

“A girl with long brown hair. I also love green eyes. She would be loud when she can, has a good sense of humor, and always is full of surprises. Sensible when needed. Otherwise, I love girls who are spontaneous. Always laughing and smiling. And above all, I love a girl who can care for others more than herself.” As soon as I said it I realized I described her. I didn't know I was, it just came out. The old her anyways. She has changed, too much for my liking. “How about you, what is your perfect guy?”

“I love guys who can make me smile without saying anything, and can make me laugh with just a flick of the wrist. Someone who is athletic enough to keep up with my love for soccer. He doesn't have to be loud, in fact I like guys who are kinda quiet. Not always in the spotlight, you know? I like a guy who's not ordinary, who has a bit of quirkiness. It may not show, but I love music. I also love guys who love music too.” That was kinda like me. But I was so glad, I love music too. I love singing, but never did I think I was that good.

“I have one more question, Dev,” she said.

“Shoot.”

“How would you ask girl out?”

“Well,” I started, “I think it would depend on the girl. But to be standard, I would probably sing to her.”

“You sing?”

“Um, yeah,” I replied, a little embarrassed.

“Can you sing right now?”

“I'm not that good.”

“I bet you are.”

“Um...”

“Please,” she begged.

“Alright.”

I didn't have any music, so it was kinda hard. But I decided it was gonna be fine. Right? What I worried most about is that she would laugh at my song choice. But they were like my idols.

I've tried playing it cool

But when I'm looking at you

I can't ever be brave

Cause you make my heart race

Shot me out of the sky

Your my kryptonite

You keep making me weak

Frozen and can't breathe

She applauds and I take a small bow. It was hard to do while sitting down.

“One Direction?” she asks.

“You can start laughing now.”

“No! Why would I do that?”

“Because I'm a sixteen year old guy who just sang part of a One Direction song.”

“I don't see anything wrong with it. In fact, I think it's cool.”

“That I like One Direction.”

“Totally. I fan girl over them in my short amount of free time.”

“Finally someone who didn't laugh at me. Just don't mention it to Chris though, I'll be teased for the rest of my life if you do.”

“Don't worry, my lips are sealed.” She then gave me her crooked, yet amazing smile. I liked that it was crooked though, it made her seem all the better. She then added quietly, “You sounded really good. I don't know why you thought you wouldn't.”

“Thanks.” That boosted my ego about my singing, but I wouldn't be singing in front of anyone anytime soon, it took all I have to even sing that little bit.

“Let's go home,” she said. I was slightly disappointed, but knowing Alexandra it wouldn't be the last time of me seeing her.

For those One Direction fans out there, here's a taste, I guess. Ever guessed the main character could sing?
