Chapter 10- Return

Amy Cream and Rouge all waited outside the door. "Aaaahhhhh!" They'd keep hearing in the hotel room. "I can't take it anymore!" Amy yelled in a face full of tears. "Amy, what they're doing would just devastate you. I'm sorry, but we can't allow you to see what they're doing." Cream said grabbing Amy's arm. That's when Tails peeked through the door. "It's done!... He'll survive." He said with a sigh of relief. "Let me see him!" Amy jumped up, running through the doorway. And pushing Tails out of the way.

She looked at his bed, and saw him asleep Again. Peacefully. He was hooked up to some stuff from the jet, and on life support. With a heartbeat monitor. He had masking tape on his left ear, and had bandages all around his torso.

The sight of him just brought her to her knees. She out her hands and head on his chest, and just cried. "I'm so sorry... I didn't mean for any of this to happen." She said softly while she wept. "And on vacation! What kind of monster does this!" She started yelling. Her tears turned into anger.

She looked up out the window, and saw the damaged beach and restaurant. This really pissed her off. "...Amy.?" Rouge asked kind of scared. She turned around and looked at Rouge. With a serious and horrifying look. But then, she felt something touch her hand. She looked down, and saw Sonic moved his hand onto hers.

She looked back at him, and saw he was awake. "Sonic!" She yelled as she hugged his neck. "Amy... It's okay. I'm fine.." He said faintly. "I didn't want any of this! I just wanted a nice vacation!" She yelled.

"But, why would they attack now? It's been five years since Scrouge died!" Knuckles asked. "They had to prepare. After they saw the werehog they needed time to get ready doe what comes next." Shadow explained sternly. "But the werehog is gone?" Tails said. "They don't know that. They think it's stronger than ever. That's why they built this... Thing." Shadow replied.

"What ever it was... It matched my strength, speed and power. It was like a genetic equal." Sonic said as he took the breathing mask off. "It had special abilities of it's own though." Tails said.
"And it... Had a mind of it's own. I've never seen anything like it!" Tails also said. "Whatever it is, we need to figure out how it functions, and how to stop it. Because I guarantee you, this thing will attack again." Shadow said.

"Wait!" Amy yelled. "The robot wasn't the only thing there... Swift was there too." She said upset. "Wait a minute, Swift? As in the purple hedgehog that was working for Scrouge?" Cream freaked out. "Yes, when I was getting up a knife flew out of nowhere a hit me directly in the back. And this was when the robot was down!" Sonic said. "I looked over and he was standing there, pulling out his pistol." He continued.

"But everything of his is destroyed! Including the Doomsday Project! What does he want from us?" Tails added. "Vengeance. I saw the look in his eyes after I killed Scrouge. It was the same look I had when Amy was shot." Sonic said upset. "So that's why he modeled this thing after you. He's grown an obsession over your death." Knuckles said.

"So, what do you think we do?" Shadow asked. The team looked around at each other with no idea.

"Breeze, the masking tape."

"Gotcha bro."

"That dreaded hedgehog... He got away..."

"What of Metal Sonic?"

"He's back in his quarters."

"A room for a robot..?"

"He's of use to us Breeze. And he has a mind if his own. He was built with artificial intelligence."

"How did you get your own knife stabbed in your shoulder..?"

"The pink one. So is was getting up, so I threw my knife and hit him in the back. But the girl, pulled the knife out and threw it back at me!"

"Is that before they took off?"

"Yes. Cowards!"

"What now brother?"

"Pack your things. We're going to need your assistance as well."
