A/N: So I did one of the stupidest things in my life. I watched Envy's death. (I just started Brotherhood.) I know he dies, but OH MY GOSH! For those of you who are reading this and haven't watched Brotherhood the whole way through, then this is a spoiler warning. I cried for ten minutes after he died. He pleaded for Roy not to kill him. He literally pleaded with him. How Envy said "I don't want to die." and squirmed underneath Roy's foot. *cries thinking about it* I'm going to let you guys read before I start crying again. My poor little worm.
I walked past the doctor's house and thought for a moment. Was he there to treat me? His face seems familiar. I shook the thought away and started to walk again, but then the door opened up. I turned and looked at who was coming out. It was Y/N.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm going with you."
"Why would you want to go with me?"
"Seems like you need a friend."
"Tch. Why would you want to be friends with a freak like me?"
"I never said you were a freak. But you are different, Envy."
I sighed and started walking again. She walked beside me and we were silent for basically the entire walk to the train station.
"You know, the people who come out of here never come back," she said.
"That means you're risking not coming back to your father and uncle."
"Yeah. You're also risking not returning to Becca."
I nodded slowly, "Yeah, I know."
"She really does mean something to you, doesn't she?"
"She means so much to me. She gave me everything when I started out with nothing."
"Then why risk everything to leave her?" she asked.
"I need to know what I am."
"Can we go after him now, Lust?" Gluttony asked.
"No. We need to wait for him to reach Dublith and know who he is," Lust said.
Gluttony whined a bit, "Please? Master would be pleased if we found him."
"I know. But we need to wait. He's going to break as soon as he knows and then he'll come looking for others just like him. He still never got the answer to his question."
"What was it?"
"The symbol on his left thigh."
"No one has told him?"
"No. Seems they were too busy telling him where to find the doctor who made him."
"I'm tired of waiting."
"I know, Gluttony, you just need to do a bit more."
I sat down in a chair and looked out the window. Y/N and I were taking a train to Dublith. We had to walk at least two hours to get to the nearest train station. It was tiring and I brought out a banana I had grabbed from the kitchen. Y/N seemed she was interested in the fruit I had brought.
"You want something?" I sneered.
"If you wouldn't mind."
I glared at her and then finished my banana, "Not a chance."
"Why?"
"Because you came with me with nothing other than the clothes on your back. I came prepared for the long journey ahead."
"You could at least share, Envy."
"Do you have any clue as to what my name means?"
"I have some idea."
"What does envy mean?"
"Being jealous of another's person's qualities."
"Exactly! I had nothing. Now I at least have something in my life. And I'm not going to give it away like that. Besides, when we stop we can get something else to eat."
"Alright." There was a long silence before Y/N spoke again. "You know, it's not polite to treat a friend like that."
"We're not friends, Y/N. We're just two people coexisting in this world."
"Harsh."
"That's the truth! Before you had friends you had people in your life just there. Your father and uncle are the only people in your life that doesn't coexist with you!"
She looked a bit hurt by what I said. I didn't care. I didn't care about anyone, other than Becca.
"Envy?"
"What?"
"Why are you so harsh to some people?"
"There are dangers in this world and sometimes we need to be toughened up before we're released from the nest. I left prematurely. And what about you? How come you leave people out of your life?"
"I never said that."
"Don't lie to me, Y/N. You lived on the outskirts of the village and I've never seen you come out of the house. Every time I go outside, I am treated like I'm not even human. Like I'm nothing to them. That I'm like the very dirt they walk on and they see me like that so they treat me like dirt. Are you just afraid that you're going to get hurt?"
"No."
"Then why do you never come out of that stupid house?!"
Her expression grew angry. She got up and walked out of the car. It was a good thing there was no one in this car other than us. I sighed and looked out the window. I looked down at my wrist and saw the wristband Becca made me. I placed my hand over it.
"I'm sorry for leaving, Becca. I should have stayed."
After a while, I got up and went to go find Y/N. I found her sitting outside on the last train car. I opened the door and stood next to her.
"I'm sorry. For everything I said."
"It's not like you to apologize to people."
"You don't even know me."
"And you don't even know me. So can you stop pretending like you know everything about me?"
"Fine."
She sighed and walked back into the car with me. We sat down and said nothing after a while. The day drew on and soon it turned to night. Y/N had fallen asleep on the chair in front of me. She was in a fetal position and curled tight. She appeared to be shivering. I had taken the one of the blankets out of my bag and wrapped it around her.
"You humans are a piece of work."
I sat back on my chair and watched as she slept. I turned my attention to the city lights that were flashing by as we went. Dublith was a far place from the village we both lived at. But this journey was coming to an end. After dawn broke, Y/N and I stopped at a small town to get something to eat.
"You had brought some stuff and you didn't tell me?" I asked.
"Why would I tell you I brought my phone, some money, and a phone charger? I'm not that stupid."
"But you were stupid enough to not bring at least some food for the long trip." There was silence before I looked at her, "How long did you think this trip was going to be?"
"An hour or two."
"Y/N, we lived in a village north of Central. Dublith is south from Central. You really thought we'd take an hour trip to Dublith?!"
"I wasn't thinking!"
"It's clear you weren't!" I sighed, "Come on. Let's get to the train station before it leaves."
