The last five months flew by. Y/N was due any day now and I still didn't have an answer other than to make a philosopher's stone. I had tried asking doctors if they knew anything to help her. They said to not play the role of god and to let either her be or the child be. I asked Marcoh and he said the same thing. There was really no way to keep both of them alive. It was either lose the love of my life. Or lose the son we've been waiting for. I growled in frustration and almost knocked the bulletin board over. I had the week off since Y/N was due any day. All of my research. Nine months of research and I knew the answer. I already knew the answer when I first began. I knew I was unable to find a better answer than the philosopher's stone. I sighed and sat in front of the board.
"I'm sorry, Y/N. I'm sorry I couldn't find a better answer."
Tears rolled down my face as I stared at the drawing of the transmutation circle. This was my only option. But I didn't want to kill people just to make sure either my son or my wife lived. I sighed and wiped away the tears. I took the board and slid it back underneath my bed. I sat down and looked out the window. Summer was upon us. The weather was already extremely hot and unbearable. Especially in a uniform and you're walking to work. Y/N is currently in the kitchen eating something. I could hear her making a lot of noise. The last five months was rough. She was getting more and more grouchy and I sometimes had to spend the night in here. It was good for me because I kept working on trying to find the answer to my question. I was ripped from my thoughts when I heard a plate crash onto the ground and then hear a yell in pain. I ran out of my room to see Y/N on the ground. She was clutching her stomach as she yelled.
"Y/N!" I said and ran over to help her up.
"Call the hospital."
I nodded and pulled out my phone and called the hospital. I grabbed my shoes and helped Y/N put her's on.
"Do you think you can make it?"
"I'll try."
"If not, Roy has a car I can use."
We walked out of the apartment and made our way towards the hospital. Y/N did manage to be able to walk to there. It probably wasn't the best idea of mine. I walked her in and she was taken instantly. I stood at the door as she was rushed to the ER.
"Is everything ok?" I asked the nurse.
"She's losing blood internally," she said.
"No," I whispered.
"It's best if you stay out here if you're squeamish about blood."
"No. I want to be there for her."
The nurse led me towards her room and they got prepared. I sat next to Y/N and held her hand. She was already sweating and breathing heavily. I didn't want to live through this. I didn't want to lose her and our son. All throughout the night, I could hear her screaming and sense the pain she was in. She was squeezing my hand to the point where I couldn't feel it. It was all worth it to ease her pain she was in.
"We have to do an emergency C-section," Marcoh said.
"What, why?" I asked.
"She's losing a lot of blood. We need to do this to save her life and the child's."
"What's the status on the baby?"
"It's not doing too well. If we don't perform this, you could lose both."
No! No. I didn't want to lose both of them! It was hard enough to get over the thought of losing one of them. But losing both, I couldn't handle it. I couldn't lose her.
"Am I allowed in the room?"
"Yes. We just need to get you dressed in the right clothing."
I had to put my hair up and put on a gown to make sure I didn't get any blood on my clothes.
"Envy," Y/N gasped.
"I'm right here, Y/N."
"It hurts," she said.
"I know, dear. I know."
An hour had gone by and Marcoh successfully performed the C-section. But just because it was successful doesn't mean anything to me. I want to know if both of them will live. Marcoh had taken the baby to another room while he finished working on Y/N.
"Doctor!"
"Yes?"
"She's losing a lot of blood!" I said. I just noticed blood was coming out of her mouth.
He looked over and saw it, "Damn it! Nurse, get two bags worth of blood! And hurry!"
They hurried out of the room and came back five minutes later with two bags of blood.
"Hook one up to her. Make sure that line does not dip down any farther than it has. Get a breathing mask on her."
They did as they were told to do. I could feel tears accumulating in my eyes. I silently cried as I watched Y/N's eyes close slowly. Dr. Marcoh had finished up and checked her blood levels. They were rising back up to where they should be.
"If it wasn't for you, Envy, I wouldn't have known she was bleeding from her mouth."
"Where is our baby?" I asked.
"They're still doing tests on him."
"How is he?"
Dr. Marcoh turned away and walked out the door.
"Dr. Marcoh, wait?! How is our son?"
He closed the door. I snarled and walked back over to sit beside Y/N. I watched over her as she slowly recovered from what had happened. Another hour went by and there was nothing on our child. Y/N was able to sit up and take the breathing mask off of her.
"I'm glad you're ok," I said.
"Where is our baby?"
As soon as she had asked, Marcoh came in with our child. He handed him to Y/N. She took one look at him and instantly started crying.
"What the hell happened?"
"He's dying slowly."
"No! That can't be!"
His last moments were with his mother. Marcoh took our son from her arms.
"No! No! Give him back!"
"I'm sorry," Marcoh said.
"No!" Y/N cried.
"There is something we need to tell you," Marcoh said.
"What more do you have to say?" I asked.
"It's about Y/N."
"What about her?"
"While we were operating, I had messed up. I cut something that I shouldn't have had."
"And what does that mean for Y/N?" I asked.
"She can no longer conceive children."
