"Everything means you," I said.
She smiled at me, but then pushed me away, "I can't be with you, Envy. I'm getting married in five months."
"To that jerk? I don't think you should, Y/N."
"It's my decision, Envy."
"What about everything I have shown you? Does that not matter?"
"Look, I'm only putting up this charade long enough for Richard to crack. I'm slowly going to break him. It shouldn't be long, Envy. It shouldn't be long before we're together," she said as she placed her hand in mine.
I smiled at her and kissed her head, "Alright."
I walked out of the room and saw Richard coming in. I glared at him and laid down on the couch.
"What are you doing up, Envy?"
"Just going to the bathroom."
"Alright."
He walked into Y/N's room and that was it for this night.
In the morning, we were taking a tour around Central. Since wearing what I had on wasn't considered great, I had to wear Richard's clothes. It felt weird wearing human clothes. A plain white t-shirt, blue jean shorts, and tennis shoes didn't feel great. I at least had my wristband on. They didn't object to that. They know how much it means to me. We had stopped for lunch and afterwards we headed back to the apartment. Richard's mother and father left that evening and I was with Y/N and Richard. Y/N had a plan this evening. She was going to go out with Richard at the same bar where he met this woman. I was going with them to make sure things didn't get out of hand. Around 10, we went down and we waited. Around 11, she came in. She sat next to Richard and they didn't engage. Y/N caught note of it and she looked at me, which I was behind her. I nodded and she got up, going to the bathroom. She left for two minutes and the two engaged in a conversation with explicit content. She came back quietly and sat with me, listening to their conversation.
"Hey, haven't seen you in a while."
"You're so forgetful, Richard. We saw each other last night."
"We did? I don't think I remember."
She smiled and put her hand on his leg, "You're so forgetful, Richard."
"I guess I am."
He kissed her cheek and that sent Y/N over the top. She stood up and grabbed Richard's shoulder.
"Y/N, I didn't expect you to be back so soon," he said nervously.
"I want your shit out of my apartment now."
He got up and looked at the woman, "I-I can explain."
"I don't want to hear it. Here," she said and slipped off the engagement ring and gave it to Richard. She walked out and I followed. Richard grabbed my shoulder and whirled me around so I could face him.
"You're the reason for this!" he snarled.
"No, this was your own damn fault."
"I never should have found you in the train station."
"If you didn't find me, I would have found you eventually. This was your mistake, Richard."
Before I could walk away, he punched me in the face. I turned towards him, an evil look on my face.
"Now you've done it."
I grabbed a chair and slammed it into Richard's back. He snarled, put the ring down, and tried to punch me. I dodged. He looked confused and tried once more. I kept dodging until he lost his footing. I grabbed his wrist, flung him over my back, placed my other hand on his chest, and forced him into the ground below. He was winded after that. I placed my foot on his chest.
"Don't come near me or Y/N ever again."
"She'll never love a creature, soul-less person like you, Envy."
I spat next to his head, "Don't be so sure about that, Richard. You're the one who's soul-less."
I walked out of the bar and back towards Y/N's apartment. She had gotten everything that was Richard's and moved it to the front of the door. He came and picked up his belongings. I had given him back his shorts, shirt, and shoes. I was back into my own clothing. I was sitting on the couch and Y/N was in her room. It was around midnight when she came out and sat in front of me.
"Thank you, Envy."
"I did what I had to do, Y/N."
"You know, you can take the bedroom across from mine."
"Thanks, but I think I'll stay out here for a few more nights."
"It's more comfortable in the bed."
I sighed and smiled at her, "Alright."
I grabbed my things and put them in the room across from her's. I got everything out from my bag and saw the blanket Becca made me. I sat down on the bed, tears running down my cheeks. Y/N came in and saw I was crying. She sat next to me and rested her hand on my shoulder.
"I could have saved her," I said. "If I didn't go to that damn place in Dublith, I could have saved her!"
"I know you could have, Envy. But I guess it just wasn't meant to be," she said.
I held the blanket close to me, "You know how kids still carry around their most treasured item?"
"Yeah, why?"
"I feel like one of those kids. Holding onto something they were once given as a child."
"Well, it reminds you of Becca. The first person to care about you."
"Well, now I have you," I said as I turned to look at her.
She smiled and kissed my cheek, "I have you."
I wrapped my arms around her waist and fell down onto the bed, pulling her with me.
"Envy!"
"What?" I laughed.
"Warn me next time you do that," she smiled.
"I don't think so."
"You better or I'll beat your ass."
I smiled and she rested her head underneath my neck. She nuzzled against my neck and I rested me head atop of her's. I smiled to myself, knowing that she was out of harm and I was here to love her for her.
