No! No! This isn't real! This isn't real! It's fake. It has to be. This has to be a dream. This has to be a messed up dream. I looked down at the floor. It was real. It was all real. Our son was dead and Y/N can't conceive children anymore. I looked up and snarled at Dr. Marcoh.
"This is all your damn fault! If you didn't mess up then she would have another chance of having another kid!"
"You don't know what that would to do her! If you thought this procedure was risky, then her going through it a second time is riskier! If you think she could have died here, then she certainly would the next time. And I'm not saying this to be evil. I'm stating the truth, Envy. And sometimes, the truth hurts. I'm sorry." Marcoh walked out, leaving us alone.
I sat down and looked at Y/N, "What are we going to do?"
"I don't know. But I don't want to think about it right now."
"Alright."
A few days have passed since everything had happened. She was discharged from the hospital and I was back to work.
"I'm sorry about what happened," Roy said.
I just nodded my head. I sighed as I continued doing my work.
~4 years~
It had been four years since we tried to have a child. Y/N and I were slowly drifting apart because of it. She was hiding something and I knew she was hiding something. She just didn't look like herself. She looked tired, unkempt, and unhappy. She wasn't cheery when I walked in through the door after work. She wasn't happy when I took care of her. I knew she still loved me and I still love her, but something is tearing us apart. I just don't know what it is.
"Something is wrong with her," I told Roy as we were walking towards his office.
"I think she's still trying to get over it," Roy said.
I sighed, "I thought she would have gotten over it by now. It's been four years."
"I know, but you need to give it time. I'm sure you're still upset."
"I am, Colonel Mustang."
"What did you want to tell me? You said you had something important to tell me."
"Well, with everything that had happened, I'd just want more time with Y/N. She quit her job three years ago and hasn't really said much to me. I'm resigning as a state alchemist," I said.
"Envy, why would you?"
"I do love working here, but I just need more time to spend with Y/N. I need to get her out of this depressive state she's in. And it also doesn't help that I'm gone for most of the day. And when I get home, all she asks is how my day was and then secludes herself to her room and only comes out when dinner is ready. Or she doesn't come out at all. I've made up my mind, Colonel."
He nodded his head and held out his hand. I took out the pocket watch and put it in his hands.
"It was nice working with you, Envy."
"Same here, Roy. Tell Riza and Maria I said hi."
"I will. Tell Y/N I said hi."
"I will."
I walked back home and saw Y/N was laying on the couch. I walked over to her and saw she was asleep.
"Y/N? Y/N?"
There was no response. I checked for a pulse. There was one. Oh thank goodness! I put my palm against her forehead. She was cold. I checked for a pulse once more and it was still there. I picked her up bridal style and walked towards the hospital. If anyone knew what is going on it's Dr. Marcoh. The nurses took Y/N to see Dr. Marcoh. I walked along side Y/N as she was laying in a hospital bed. Something is not right. We found Dr. Marcoh and he took her as soon as he could. He ran a few tests and came back. Y/N was still asleep.
"She is depriving herself of food," he said.
I knew it. "I sensed it, Doctor."
"Then why didn't you do anything?"
"I had asked her earlier, but she never opened up about it!"
"Then keep at it! If you cared about her, you would have seen these symptoms beforehand. Before she became in this kind of state! I'll try my best to save her."
"Please, doctor."
"I'll try my best, doctor."
A few weeks had passed by and there was no word about Dr. Marcoh and Y/N. Another week went by and she was discharged from the hospital. While I was at the apartment, she had woken up and they were giving her food. But since she deprived herself of food for nearly nine months, she was slowly trying to eat again.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked, tears streaming down my face.
"We were growing apart, Envy. I felt like you wouldn't care."
"Y/N, I care so much about you."
"It doesn't feel like you do," she sighed.
"What do you want me to do, Y/N?"
"I don't know, Envy!"
"I tried my best to recover what we lost. I tried to make you think about adoption. But you turned down every damn answer I had to your questions."
"Now you know how it feels to not get answers!" I sighed and got up from the table. "Where are you going?"
"I'm going to take a walk. If you want to come with me, you're more than welcome to."
I walked towards the door and opened it. She didn't come after me. I sighed and walked out and closed it. I stood there for a few minutes, tears falling down my face. I walked out of the apartment building and down towards Central command. I looked at the banner as I walked by. Thinking of all the memories I had of that building and the people who were working there. Riza. Roy. Ross. Armstrong. All of those people were good people. They treated me like I was human. They saw me as a human. Y/N saw me as a human. I was walking towards a small market when I sensed something. I turned towards the apartment.
"No."
I ran back to the apartment and grabbed my keys. I found the right key and opened the door. The sight was terrifying. Y/N was on the floor in a small pool of her own blood. I walked over to her and cradled her in my arms.
"Y/N? Y/N, please say something!"
She turned her head and looked up at me, "I'm sorry." She brushed a few strands of hair out of my face and lightly placed her lips on mine. I didn't care if they were bloody or tasted like blood. "I love you, Envy."
"No! Y/N, no! You can't do this to me! No!"
Her eyes stared at the ceiling. Her entire body ran cold and there was no pulse this time. Tears streamed down my face as I looked at her dead body. I hugged her tightly as I rocked back and forth.
"I'm sorry, Y/N. I will always love you," I said through sobs.
