Zane's POV:
I woke Kawaii~Chan up when we got to the house. "Wake up, sleepyhead," I whispered, shaking her shoulder.
Her eyes cracked open and she yawned. "Wha?" she yawned out, closing her eyes again.
I sighed. "No," I said, bumping her shoulder again. She stirred, but otherwise stayed asleep.
I sighed again, deciding on extreme measures. I pulled my mask down and yelled. Nothing coherent, just a yell, but it worked. Her head shot up, and, if she hadn't been buckled into the car, she would've latched onto the roof.
"What the heck, Zane~Kun?" she yelled at me, taking a deep breath.
I laughed, fixing my mask and unbuckling myself. She scowled and soon followed, swinging into the house, following Vylad and Garroth.
I heard my mom in the living room saying hi to Garroth and Vylad. A loud raspberry sound went throughout the house, telling me that she was giving them kisses. I quickly hid under the stairs, not wanting to get kissed.
Kawaii~Chan threw me a confused look from the doorway. "What is Zane~Kun doing?" she asked, swinging closer.
I quickly shook my head, nearly giving me whiplash, but it was too late.
"Zuzu!" I heard my mom screech from the living room, "You brought your girlfriend over again!" Her head came from around the corner, a large smile plastered across her face. I turned to run, but was pinned down, my arms at my side. My mask fell as Mom planted a big, wet kiss on my cheek.
"Mom!" I moaned out, twisting myself out of her grasp.
She gasped. "Zuzu, what's all over your face?"
My eyes widened as I remembered the black whiskers that were running down my face. I tried to pull my mask up to hide it, but Kawaii~Chan held it down. She looked at it for a second, then turned to one of the family pictures on the wall. She saw her reflection and gasped. They matched.
Before she could say anything, I booked it, running up the stairs. I heard Kawaii~Chan yell something, but I didn't hear it. I slammed the door of my bedroom and buried my head under my covers. She had seen my drawings. She knew.
Kawaii~Chan's POV:
I swung into Zane's house, hearing a weird noise coming from the living room. When Zane heard this noise, he quickly ran to hide under the stairs.
I threw him a confused look. "What is Zane~Kun doing?" I said, swinging closer to where he was hiding. Now, I was in the doorway of the living room.
I saw Zane shake his head, trying to tell me something, before I heard his mother scream from the living room. "Zuzu! You brought your girlfriend over again!" she yelled, running over to where he was hiding.
My face erupted into a blush and I quickly ducked my head. "We're not dating," I muttered, but it fell on deaf ears.
I watched as Zianna pulled down Zane's mask on plant a big, probably wet, kiss on his cheek.
"Mom!" he moaned, pushing her off.
"Zuzu," Zianna said, inspecting his face, "What's all over your face?"
I swung closer to inspect it and my eyes widened. He had black marker running down his face and neck. When he tried to pull his mask back up again, I pulled it down myself and silently inspected it. I turned to one of the family pictures on the wall and saw my reflection. The drawings matched. We were soulmates.
Before I could say anything, Zane ran up the stairs. "Wait! Zane~Kun!" I yelled, but I don't think he heard me. I heard a door slam shut as he ran into where I assumed was his bedroom.
I scowled and determinedly swung up the stairs, following him. I scanned the top floor, then turned to look back down the stairs.
"Which room is his?" I asked Zianna.
"Uh, first on your left," she stammered, pointing.
I thanked her, then turned towards the door in question. I opened it and saw Zane under the covers of his bed.
His room was actually pretty nice. The walls were a smooth shade of black and so was his bed. Clothes were strewn across the floor, but in organized piles for the different fabrics. A desk sat in the corner, an open laptop sitting on top. Posters of all of his favorite things were pinned against the walls and a shelf sat in the opposite corner from the desk. It was filled with......ponies? I turned away from them, I didn't want to seem judgy.
"Zane?" I said, pushing on his lumpy form under the blanket.
He curled up even further. "Go away," came his muffled reply. He sounded like he was crying.
I rolled my eyes and yanked on the blankets, pulling them back. Zane layed there, his face hidden beneath the arms as he was curled up tighter than I ever thought possible.
"Zane," I said again, more gentle this time. I sat down on the bed beside him, setting my crutches down on the ground.
"What?" he barked, still staying hidden.
I sighed sadly, putting my hand on his head. "Will you please come out?" I asked, gently beginning to pet him.
He shoved my hand away, sitting up abruptly. There were messy tear tracks going down his face, turning it a light shade of pink. He scowled, baring his teeth.
"So now you know," he yelled, turning away and planting his head roughly on his pillow.
"Yes," I said shoving my fist into the bed, "and I'd like to know why you've been trying to hide it from me,"
He tensed at my harsh tone, then sighed, turning to face me. "I just didn't want to weigh any of our soulmates down," he muttered, rubbing his arm and caving in on himself.
I arched my eyebrow in confusion. "Soulmates?" I asked, enunciating the 's'.
He looked up, confusion etched all over his face. "Well, with all of the markings you we had on us, I figured that we had a few," he whispered, playing with his mask, which was still pulled down under his chin, exposing the marker on his face.
I paused, understanding what he meant. "I guess we both have a few things to discuss," I sighed.
A/N: I just realized while typing this that every time I said that Kawaii~Chan 'swung' somewhere on her crutches, it sounds like she's Spiderman. XD Bye~
