An Unexpected Meeting

cronus's pov

It was a rather warm day, people were out and about in shorts and vests. I had decided to go out for a walk in the town, see some of the shops and take a look in any music or record shops. I didn't put on anything special, just my normal clothing apart from the leather jacket, leather and sun just doesn't work and i found that out the hard way. I grab my wallet phone and keys, eridan and dad were out back gardening and talking so I had to lock the front door. 

After taking a bus into the town I start walking around the shopping center, going into a clothes shop and taking a look at all the latest styles. I guess that because it was summer it was the reason so many belly tops were on the shelves, i roll my eyes and keep looking, i could do with some new shirts anyway. As I'm looking at the mens section i notice a certain shade of red a few sections away, i look up and see kankri. I'm relieved to see he isn't in his normal red sweater, then again if he was I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be able to stand the heat. instead he was wearing a simple black t shirt with a red and black flannel long sleeve over it, he was also wearing some denim shorts and was in sandals. I smile and start to walk over 

"hey kanny!" I smile at him as he looks up 

"good evening cronus" he smiles a little 

" hows things, is karkat getting better?" i ask, hoping the subject doesn't go sour 

" hes fine yes, talking more and getting back to the way he was with his normal tendencies about romantic comedies and other film genres " he explains 

"that's great! I was worried about the little guy. Anyway how are you?" 

"oh I'm wonderful, I've gotten accepted into a new college course as i completed my course in business" he smiles more and i feel my face get warmer just a bit 

"that's awesome! what course are you taking now?"

"photography, i thought it would be a more calming experience after... well, you know " he shrugs and i nod 

he shakes his head " A...anyway what are you up to, I heard you got a drivers licence a few weeks ago"

i smile proudly " yup! you're looking at a full licence driver. Even got a car but I decided to take a bus today"

"why not just drive?" he tilts his head a little 

"oh well.... with the heat and all I thought the car would be a little to warm for me to drive in" I mumble

"makes sense" he smiles 

I look at him and smile back, he puts away the shirt he was looking at and turns to me fully

"would you like to ...hang out? I believe that's how its put" 

I chuckle " It is and I would love to hang out with you kan, would be nice to catch up a little more and just have fun"

He smiles and we both walk out the shop. I talk about how I've recently been doing some hairdressing, he agrees that it suits me..... whatever that means. After a while of just walking around we take a break in a coffee shop. I look over the menu at kankri, he was biting his lip as he reads the options and probably the prices. he smile as he looks over his menu at me, I cross my eyes and he giggles a little. I feel a blush go across my face and i smile, looking at the options again 

"so uh.... I take it you want something cold?" I start

"It would be sensible" 

"well.. an ice vanilla late would suit you" I smile 

"then I'll go for that" he smiles and puts his menu down 

"and I'll go for the iced americano " I smile and stand up, going over to order for us both


kankri's pov

As cronus goes up to order for us both I quickly check my phone for any messages. I see that I have one from karkat, it says 

"hey kan, r u alright? u said u would be back at 12, its 1"

I smile and text back 

" I'm fine, I bumped into cronus and I decided to just spend the day with him"

"aaawww love birds xx"

I blush and smile 

"shush, It's not a date It's just spending a day with someone"

"never said it was a date, and because u said it wasn't a date it totally is"

"Its not!"

" is he paying for any food or drinks u guys r having?" 

I look up and see Cronus paying for the drinks and it looks like he also got cookies. I look back at my phone 

"yes, hes paying for our coffee and cookies"

"right, and has he made you laugh yet?"

"hes gotten a slight giggle out of me"

"yeah its totally a date, so stop texting me and go for this!" 

" you're the one who texted me first!" I roll my eyes and put my phone away

just then Cronus comes back with the drinks and food. I smile and thank him and start drinking, it was very cold and refreshing

"this is very nice Cronus, thanks for suggesting it"

"no prob kanny" he smiles, taking a bite of the cookie 

"Cronus..... is this a date?" I ask, he starts coughing, face flushed 

" oh my goodness are you alright?!" I panic, he nods and clears his throat, now breathing normally. he looks at me 

"do you want it to be a... a date?" he blushes

"I'm not sure, karkat said its basically a date" I mumble 

"your brother who is a rom com expert told you that this is basically a date?"

"... does that sound stupid?"

"no no! It actually makes sense, I mean I did just pay for this, we are here by ourselves and I .... I do like you so it makes sense" 

I blush and look up at cronus

"you like me? as in... like me ?"

he rubs the back of his neck, face going purple "...yeah.."

I smile and take his hand that was on the table, he looks at me nervously

"I like you too" 

he chuckles and blushes deeper, he holds my hand back.

I was walking home with Cronus, we had lost track of time and it was already 6 pm. We had gotten something else to eat and we just had fun all around. Our hands were still intertwined and I couldn't help but smile. He walks me up to my front door and I turn to look at him 

"thanks for this day Cronus, I had fun"

"hey, if you had fun then it was a day well spent" he smiles and I giggle a little 

" we should do this again some time"

"we should, but next time I think I should ask you out properly" he winks and I roll my eyes smiling 

I quickly hug him, he was still taller than me so I came up to about his chest. I feel his arms wrap around me as he hugs back, I can't help but let out a really quiet purr and he chuckles. We both pull back from the hug and smile at each other. he leans down and kisses my cheek, making my face go red, he smiles 

" I'll talk to you later kanny" he starts walking off 

"be safe! look both ways before crossing the street!" I call 

"will do! " he laughs

I smile and go inside my home. As I'm taking off my sandals I notice my dad and brother were smirking at me. I blush deeply and roll my eyes 

"I take it you saw"

"we have no idea what you're talking about" karkat chuckles and my father just smiles 

I smile and head up to my room, I hear karkat call up to me 

"NEXT TIME KISS HIM!" 

I go red, then smirk 

"I don't think you're in a position to tell me when and when not to kiss someone as you yourself didn't kiss Eridan"

"NOT FAIR HIS DAD CAME OUTSIDE WHEN I WAS GOING TOO" he pouts and I laugh
