Before it's too late

Jac drifted off to sleep. Soon she was back in the church yard. She had her wedding dress on but it was torn. Jac did not hesitate before opening the heavy church door. Inside it was empty, no flowers, no Fletch waiting at the altar
"You should tell him before it's too late"
"Who's there?"
Jac spun round to face Roxanna.
"This trial of Gaskell's- you've heard the rumours, there are often infections and complications some days or even weeks after the operation" she paused "they've proved fatal before. If you die do you want him to never have known how you feel?"
Jac turned toward a sound at the front of the church. Fletch was slumped over a coffin, his shoulders shaking in silent sobs. Jac made her way up the aisle to comfort him and, just as Joseph had done, he disappeared as she reached out for him. She realised at that moment that it was her coffin. She realised at that moment she had to tell him. She realised at that moment she wanted to hear from him that he felt the same.
Wake up Naylor she told herself get back to him
She looked down at her dress which was no longer torn. The coffin was gone, in it's place flowers. Still no Fletch because she'd pushed him away
The church faded as Jac began to wake up
"Welcome back Ms Naylor" Gaskell said
Jac was emotionally drained
"Is this going to kill me?" She asked bluntly
"Ms Naylor there are risks in any new procedure"
"So you can't guarantee that I will live"
"There are no certainties in medicine "
Jac rolled her eyes.
"Could you please get a message to Mr Fletcher. I need to talk to him"
"Of course" he turned on his heel and left
"Lizard" Jac said under her breath.
She now settled down to nervously wait to see whether Fletch would give her a second chance. She picked up a mirror from the bedside locker "Christ if this doesn't scare him off nothing will"
