"You ready?" Ed asked, sweetly smiling at Liza who was putting on makeup.
Liza glanced at her head in the mirror. She slowly brought her hand up to her head and stroked it, feeling the cool skin. She sighed. Ed walked up to her and wrapped his hands around her waist, feeling her growing stomach. Liza was seven months pregnant. Ed smiled widely as he felt a few kicks from the baby.
"Liza, you look beautiful." He said, looking at her in the mirror.
Liza faintly smiled, "Let's go."
Ed removed his hands from her stomach and intertwined his fingers in hers. They walked downstairs and Ed let go of Liza to open the front door for her.
"After you." He said, motioning his arm towards the driveway.
Liza laughed lightly and walked out the door to the car.
Once they began to drive, Ed behind the wheel, Liza asked, "So where are you taking me?"
Ed smiled, not taking his eyes off the road, "Now if I told you it wouldn't be a surprise now would it?" He smirked.
"Oh you suck." Liza laughed, lightly punching his arm.
They continued to drive for about twenty minutes. Liza couldn't help but remember the familiar landscape.
She gasped, "Oh my God Ed no way!" She squealed in excitement.
They pulled to the curbside and parked the car. The grass was so green and beautiful. The flowers were in bloom, filling the air with a sweet, nectar scent. On the grass in front of them sat a picnic blanket and basket with roses surrounding it. Somehow the park where Ed had proposed to Liza looked even more beautiful. Ed opened his door and walked around to Liza's side of the car to open it for her, only to have a cold, heavy black door slam him in the face. He stumbled backwards and put his hands over his face.
"Ow!" Ed groaned.
Liza jumped out of the car and closed the door behind her.
"Oh my gosh Ed I'm sorry!" She laughed.
Liza walked to Ed and closed her hands around his, pulling them slowly away from his face.
She giggled, "Are you okay?"
"Liza," Ed began, wagging his pointer finger at her, "honey, this is no laughing matter!" He exclaimed.
Liza laughed loudly as she hugged Ed. Her laughter died down and she glanced up at him, her arms still tight around his waist.
"I love you, Teddy. Thank you for this." She looked over to the picnic blanket set up on the grass.
"Oh..." Ed blushed. "It's...it's nothing, really."
Liza pulled away from him, "Oh please. It is everything. Stop being modest, Ed." She smiled.
Ed grabbed Liza by her waist, smiling and hoisted her over his shoulder.
"Hey!" Liza protested.
Ed walked a few steps to the blanket and gently set Liza down on the blanket.
"I have feet...and, ya know, working legs." Liza mouthed off to him, smiling.
"Yeah I know," Ed began, blushing and shoving his hands in his jeans pockets. "I've just always wanted to do that."
Liza smiled, her perfect teeth sparkling in the light.
The two ate and talked about absolutely everything: pizza, math, girls named Brenda...everything.
"Hey Ed?" Liza asked suddenly.
"Yeah?"
Liza paused, "Are you nervous for tomorrow."
Ed smiled.
"Yes. But I'm also extremely excited." He scooted closer to her and placed a gentle kiss on her lips.
He looked down and smiled at Liza's stomach. Ed shifted, laying down on his stomach so that his face was inches away from his wife's belly. He stretched and kissed Liza's stomach.
"I bet she's going to be just as beautiful as you." Ed said, looking up at Liza.
Liza smiled, "Why do you keep calling the baby 'she'?  What if it's a 'he'?"
Ed shook his head.
"It's a she. I know I'm gonna have a beautiful baby girl."
Liza rolled her eyes at Ed's natural cheesyness that she secretly loved.
"I guess we'll have to see tomorrow."
"Yeah." Ed began. "I'm still nervous."
Liza looked up at him and slid closer. Ed looked into her beautiful sea green eyes. They sat there, lost in each other, until Liza gently pressed her lips against his. The kiss was sweet but felt...different. As Liza pulled away, she whispered, "I love you Teddy."
"I love you too Liza."
Liza returned to eating her slice of watermelon. Ed studied her and as he did, he couldn't help but let his mind wander. A terrifying thought clouded his mind,

What if that's the last time she says that to me?
