More than Life Itself (an Ed Sheeran Imagine)

Nightmares

It had been months since Ed's surgery and he was preparing to go on tour tomorrow. He would leave in the morning.
"Liza?"
"Liza!"
Liza woke up to hear Ed calling her name.
She sat up. She could see his shadow in the darkness on the other side of the bed. His hands were clutching the sheets, his knuckles white. He was breathing heavily.
"What's wrong baby?" She said rubbing her eyes.
"Oh, I'm sorry love. I didn't mean to wake you." He said rubbing his eyes with the palms of his hands. "Just a nightmare."

"Do you wanna talk about your dream Teddy?" He shook his head.
"That's ok." She said.
There was a look of worry on his face and his lip quivered slightly. Liza frowned. She wished he would tell her, so that she could help.
As if he was reading her thoughts he said, "In my dream, you said you couldn't keep up with the touring, and me being gone for so long, so you kicked me out."

"I did that?"
"Mm-hm" He nodded, looking at Liza.
"Well, that must've been someone else because that girl didn't realize how lucky she is to have such an amazing fiancé." She smiled and kissed his nose.

He pulled away and stared straight ahead. He looked sick from worry.
He pushed his eyebrows together to make a 'u' shape, something he did when he was worried.
"What if you really do leave me?" He said.

Liza frowned. "Oh Teddy," she said leaning towards him. "You know that will never happen."

"Promise?" He asked hopefully.

"Of course." Liza said endearingly.

"Come here." Ed smiled as he picked Liza up and pulled her on top of him.
She leaned down and kissed him on the lips, holding her hair back.

"I love you Teddy."
"And I love you Liza."
And with that, they fell asleep in each other's arms.

"Liza.." Ed whispered softly as he shook Liza's shoulder to wake her.
"Mmmmm" she groaned and pulled the white covers over her head.
"Love I have to leave."
Liza sat up.
"Nooooo." She groaned.
She wrapped her arms around him and took his hand, rubbing his engagement ring. She pulled away and looked deep into his beautiful blue eyes. She planted a firm kiss on his lips and lingered there for a moment before sitting back.
A tear fell down her face and she hastily wiped it away, but of course, he saw it. He frowned.

"I got you a gift, love." He said with a smile.
Liza perked up a little. "A gift?"

Ed reached into his bag and pulled out a small orange teddy bear with a little green sweatshirt, a large X in the middle.

"Awwww what's this for Ed?"
"Well, I know you miss me terribly when I'm away on tour, so I got you something to keep with you, to I don't know...hug when you feel upset that I'm gone."
"Teddy that's so sweet." Liza said smiling.

"Ah...I'm afraid I have to go now Liza."
"I love you Ed."
"Love you too Liza."
He walked out of the room and shut the front door.
These next 4 months are going to be hard. Liza thought.
