Doctor Gallifrey pulled Ed aside in the hallway, closing the door to Liza's room behind him.
"Mr. Sheeran," He began, "I don't know any other way to break this to you but..." He paused and took a deep breath. "Mr. Sheeran..given the severity of your wife's condition and her refusal to accept the treatment option of radiation therapy...she doesn't have long. I mean..we can still proceed with chemotherapy, but...it's not guaranteed to do a whole lot for her."
Ed's face turned pale. No matter what, radiation was NOT an option. He was not killing his baby.
Ed asked, "How long are we talking about here?"
Doctor Gallifrey sighed, "I wouldn't expect more than four months."
Ed turned away from the doctor and cupped his hand over his mouth, ruffling his hair with the other.
"Mr. Sheeran, there is one more option we could consider."
Ed's face brightened as he pivoted on his heel, facing the doctor once more.
"Go on..." Ed spoke.
"Well," Doctor Gallifrey began, "we could up the dosage of the chemo. That should do a lot."
"Yes! Yes let's-" Ed jumped with excitement and hope.
"Not too fast Ed," Doctor Gallifrey cut him off. "I'm not gonna sugar coat it...upping the dosage of something like that...well...Liza would be miserable for a few months."
"But she'll live right?" Ed asked hopefully.
"Yes..well I mean-" Doctor Gallifrey was cut off by Ed jumping up and down.
"We'll do it, Doctor! Up the dosage and we'll be good to go! Thank you so much doctor!" Ed ran back into Liza's room.
"Mr. Sheeran I was going to say-"
A nurse cut him off, "Sir..." she paused sadly. "Just let the man believe okay? Just let them be happy."
Doctor Gallifrey nodded and walked away to get the release forms.

About ten minuets later, another doctor, Doctor Johnson, entered Liza's room. The couple turned to look at him as he took and IV bag full of yellow liquid in his gloved hands. He switched out the bag of fluid that Liza was hooked up to, and placed the chemotherapy on the silver rack.
"Here is a list of symptoms and people to call if something goes wrong." The doctor said, handing Liza a clipboard.
The list of symptoms was seventeen pages long.
Liza looked up at Ed worriedly. He held her hand in reassurance. Before the two left the hospital, Doctor Gallifrey prescribed Liza an anti-nausea medication, which she gladly accepted. Ed looked a bit pale.
"Hey baby," Liza whispered, "don't worry about the...the nausea thing. I'll be okay."
Ed relaxed a bit, but was still nervous.

Later that night, Ed was sound asleep in bed, curled up next to Liza. Liza moaned loudly, tears stained on her face. Ed stirred.
"Liza?" He groaned.
Liza whimpered as she clutched her stomach. She cried as she whispered,
"Teddy...I-I can't...my stomach hurts."
Ed's eyes snapped open as he sat up frantically.
"Liza baby? Hang on I'm here it's okay." He said worried as he leaned over to Liza who was unmoving in the fetal position.
"Teddy..." Liza cried pitifully, "Teddy it hurts so much." Tears streamed down her face as she clutched her stomach harder.
Ed threw the covers off himself and quickly made his way around the bed. He kneeled at Liza's side and looked at her face. It was contorted into a look of pure agony. He could tell how much pain she was in just by looking at her.
"Do you..." Ed began, "do you feel sick? Do you feel like you're gonna be sick?"
"Noooo." Liza cried out.
She drew in a sharp breath through her teeth as a new wave of pain hit her.
"Teddy I need to go to the hospital." Liza whispered.
Ed knew this was serious. Liza never said those words before. She hated hospitals almost as much as he did.
"I'm sorry Teddy. I know you hate hospitals but I can't..it hurts so much."
"It's okay, Love." Ed whispered, brushing Liza's hair out of her face.
Liza opened her eyes and looked at Ed.
"I'll drive you, yeah?" Ed whispered to her, smiling slightly.

"Well she'll be alright come tomorrow." Doctor Gallifrey said. "It seems she's had an allergic reaction to the anti-nausea pills she was prescribed. However, sadly it's a danger to your baby, Mrs. Sheeran, to be taking those pills with your stomach reacting this was. Needless to say you have a very unpleasant journey ahead of you."
Ed's face went completely white. He looked at Liza, terrified.
"It's okay Ed." Liza whispered. "You don't have to be near me these next few weeks if I'm..."
Ed shook his head.
"I'll be there for you, Love."
Liza smiled.

The two drove home and Liza slept soundly through the night. However, Ed lay awake next to her, scared for what the future would hold.

Hey you guys. Sorry this one's short. Also I'm not trying to be like, "oh I do so much for this so be sure to vote and share my story" but I have done a lot of research for this story. I have spent quite a few hours researching stuff starting at "The Beginning of the End" and I kinda wouldn't mind getting some feedback on this story. I'm not very sure of my writing and I don't know if you guys even like where I've taken this story, so if it doesn't bother you...would you mind commenting what you think? I would really appreciate that. Also I'm not in the best headspace right now, so I might not post for a couple days. I'm sorry. Thanks for reading. Love you guys💓
