Chapter 1:

Freshman year. I don't know how else to describe it. Beacon Hills is my home, the only place I've ever known. It's hard to describe, actually it's impossible. No one knows what's really going on here and if they do they aren't saying. All the crime, all the homicides, all the murders, each more mysterious than the last. I can't even count the number of lives that's been taken in the last year.... Am I the only one who wants the truth? Who wants to know what's actually happening? The number of unsolved cases is just the beginning.... What's actually going on here? Who will give me the information? I won't stop until I know the truth. I don't care who will stand in my way, I will get the information if it's the last thing I do. Until I do remember the name Addison Chamberlin, because if you get in my way I'll come for you.

I know I'm in trouble now. I've been walking the forest for hours, taking pictures and trying to find something, anything. I pulled my near dead phone out of my pocket and watched as the screen lit the surrounding area. 12:09 a.m. and about 12% battery left. I'm just started my freshman year later this week and after last year's grades my mother's not letting anything slide. It all began last year.... First the animal attacks, than the weird animal behavior, than the patterns.... I jumped at the sound of twigs breaking. I turned around desperately searched for the culprit, trying not to shake with fear. I turned around to see a bulky figure right in front of me. I nearly fell back in horror.

"What are you doing here?! Don't you know this is private property?!" The man said while stepping into the lit area so I could see his now illuminated face. Derek Hale.....

"I-Uh-Yea...." I said as he grabbed my wrist and dragged me to the nearest clearing.

"Listen kid, don't come back. You don't know what you're getting into...." He said before running back into the forest.

"What do you mean?" I wondered to myself. I sighed and looked around at my surroundings. I was right next to the highway that ran into town.... Nothing special, just a highway. I sat down on the side of the road and pointed my camera around for a couple minutes. I yawned and continued to look around. I was just about to give up when I saw 2 eyes glowing a bright, crystal blue. I blinked and was just about to snap a picture but they're were gone before I could hit the button. "I'm going insane...." I said and shook my head. I only stayed a few more moments before calling it a night and making the 20 minute trip home. When I got back I climbed up the side of my house and into my small square-like bedroom. I whipped out my phone and watched the screen light up once more. 12:58 a.m. and 4% left. I plugged it into the charger that laid on my bedside table before changing out of my dirty clothes and slipping on an oversized sweatshirt and some cotton shorts instead. Instead of going to bed I grabbed my camera and sat on the inside edge of the window. I pointed the lens at the house directly across the street from mine. The house had been untouched for years and on the market for even longer, until now..... I watched as the first light flicker on. It struggled at first but after a couple moments it warmed up. I can't even remember the last time I saw I light on in there.... A new family, from a new town, with a son my age owned the house now..... The light was in a small room on the second floor. I angled my camera to look as the window. I watched as a figure appeared in the window and looked out, clearly knowing of my presence. I tried to pretend I wasn't looking at him or his house and just sat there on my windowsill. I tried to ignore the feeling of him watching me but it was nearly impossible. I looked over at him and saw him smile. I smiled back awkwardly before slipping down onto my bed and calling it a night.

The next morning I woke up to the angry voice of my mother telling me to get out of bed. I groaned and forced myself to get up, realizing it was after 10. I jumped straight in the shower to clean off all the mud from last night. After my shower I slipped on my favorite pair of ripped shorts, a off the shoulder California Republic shirt, and my favorite white converse that didn't seem so white anymore. I threw on a floral beanie and let my auburnish hair fall in its natural wavy state. I slung my camera across my body and rushed down the steps. I found my mom in the kitchen making something that looked like chicken. I grabbed a water bottle and pop-tart before telling my mom I was leaving.

"Be back by 5. The Dunbar's are coming over for dinner." I groaned and nodded before hurrying out the door. I walked around the neighborhood for about an hour before getting bored and returning to my own yard.I stood in the middle of my yard and aimed my camera all over before noticing the boy from last night. He was in his yard with a man I'd assume to be his stepfather. I watched for a little bit before realizing what he was doing, lacrosse. I refocus my attention to my camera and looked around and when I started to return it to the yard I face appeared right in front of my making me drop my camera and stumble back. Surprisingly he caught my camera by the strap and grabbed my wrist so I could regain my balance.

"I'm so sorry!" He exclaimed and smiled at me.

"It's fine." I said with a chuckle.

"I'm Liam Dunbar." He said and extended his hand to me.

"Addison Chamberlin." I said and shook it.
