Chapter 16:
When I finally got the courage to stand I looked around. Everyone stared at me with pity. I slowly walked to my locker to grab my stuff and pennyboard. I tried to walk out without anyone stopping me but the moment I stepped out the door Liam grabbed my hand.
"Addison! What happened in there, what happened today, it w-" He started.
"Liam you don't have to apologize, and don't worry, you don't have to worry about saving me anymore." I said harshly. I shook his hand off and watched him stare at me. "Liam, I can't do this on again, off again relationship.... I can't deal with the secrets and the lies anymore. Please understand." I said and turned my back on him before skating away. I didn't look back. I knew I couldn't live without him but it's for the best for him. I'm holding him down, he shouldn't have to save me every other day. I sighed and went home to an empty house. My parents had gone to San Francisco for the week to deal with work. So now I was back in the same position as before, in the same miserable fashion. I waited until that evening to call Mason, Garrett, and Nessa. "Come over guys, I have to loosen up a bit." I said and hung up not waiting for a reply. Instead I went down to our basement and dug around until I found the cabinet I was looking for. I opened it up and grabbed a bottle of vodka. I ran back up the steps and grabbed some shot glasses. I quickly drowned one and felt the alcohol slide down my throat. It burned as I swallowed. I listened to a knock on the door before running and opening it. "Hey." I said and let them in. They all walked to the kitchen with me and laughed as I held up the bottle. "Let's get drunk." I said and smiled. They looked at me and I pour some shots.
3 hours and 4 vodka bottles later, I laid on couch with Nessa in front of me. My mind was blank and my vision was blurred. I giggled at all of the tricks my mind was playing on my visions. I looked around the room until something caught my eye, someone. Liam. I blinked and he was gone. Memories of him flooded my mind. Tears blurred my vision more than it already was, but I blinked them away. I looked at Nessa and saw her serious face. I poked her cheek and watched her smile.
"You're so drunk." She laughed. "Come on, Addi." She said and tried to get me off the couch. I stared past her though, stared out the window. "Addi?" I zoned out as I saw someone across the street. I stumbled to my feet and tried to make it to the door, but fell flat on my face.
"Liam!" I yelled and felt tears fill my eyes again. My head wasn't thinking straight. I curled up in a ball and let out a wail and I felt a hand on my side. I peered out to see Nessa once again by my side. "I-I wa-want L-"
"I know Addi. I know you miss him, I know things have been frustrating and hard, I know." She looked at me with pity in her eyes. "I know you think you need him, that he completes you, and I agree. Addison, I've been friends with you for 2 years and I've never seen you as happy as you are when you're with him." She knelt down and rubbed my back. "You love him, but if you love him so much you have to learn to love him from afar. You have to learn to live without him." Tears rushed down my face as I looked at my door.
"I-I told him, I-I-" She looked at me. "Li-Liam I-I-"
"Shhh. Addison the best thing for you is rest. Let's put in Tangled and just relax, Okay?" She asked. I nodded and lifted my eyes up. She helped me up and we walked up to my room together. I curled up on my bed as she placed the DVD in the player and jumped on my bed with me. I looked out at Liam's house and saw a glimpse of his figure though his window. I let out a tortured wail and fell down on my bed. "Shhhh." I cried and wailed but I knew he wasn't going to come. "Addison, where is that fighter I know?" I looked at her with teary eyes.
"I-I love him." I whispered.
"I know Addison, I know." She said as she gave me a worried look. "I know." I watched the movie for the next few minutes before zoning out and falling asleep.
