6 months later...
I stared out the window of my airplane, watching the clouds go by as I headed back to L.A. I was coming from Chicago, which was our last stop on the tour. I also stayed a few days with my mom and spent some time with her. We watched a lot of TV and laughed and cried. I was really, really happy that I decided to stop and spend that time with her.
Over the past six months, I've traveled to a lot of cities that I've always wanted to, all while dancing backup to Cardi B. This actually wasn't the first time in six months that I had been back in L.A. There was a night we came in for tour.
But that's a story I'll have to get back to, considering my boyfriend, that had been asleep on my shoulder, was waking up.
"Hey, baby," He said smiling at me with sleepy eyes. "How are you?"
He pecked my lips before he straightened back up in his seat. "I'm good. How are you feeling, baby?"
Heath turned to me, grabbing his neck as he did. "My neck is a little cramped."
"You'll be okay," I said, smirking and he just smiled back at me.
Maybe I should catch you up... the night before I left, I went to Heath's house. He professed his love for me.
"I love you," He said, smiling at me.
And in that moment, I looked down at the bruises on my arm from where David held me to him. Where he told me how much I deserved the pain I felt from him sleeping with Andrea. I think about all the crap that we have been through the past few months.
Then I look at Heath. Smiling at me like I'm his whole world.
And I kiss him. He slides his hand into my hair and kisses me back.
After that night, I told Heath I would give him a chance. I asked Peter if he could come on the tour, and he said yes. It was all unfolding so simply, so it had to be meant to be.
Right?
We got off the plane and Gabbie and Jessi were there to pick me up at the airport. I told Heath I needed a few days to reciprocate, plus we had been around each other constantly, and I think we both needed the time away.
"Carlie!!" Gabbie screams as she sees me.
Gab and Jess run up to me and hug me. I just smile sleepily and hug them back. "It's so good to see you guys." I smile, humming lightly as I settle into their embrace.
They help me with my bags and I turn to Heath. "I'll see you later?"
"Of course," He said, pulling me close and kissing my forehead. "Love you."
I sighed, watching him go, before turning back to Gab and Jess. They were looking at me like I was their parents. "What?"
"We need to be caught up on what's been going on the last six months." Jess said, speaking up.
I rolled my eyes, but I smiled. "Can I sleep for a while first?"
"I guess," Gabbie said sarcastically as she put her arm around me and we started walking out of the airport.
When I got back to the apartment, I slept for 12 hours. When I woke up, it was 5 a.m. the next day. I got up and made some breakfast and watched Hulu for a while until Gabbie woke up and came into my room.
One thing that had changed with Jess since I had been gone, is that she had a song go viral. She's been doing really well on YouTube because of that. I just know some record label will eventually come knocking.
With Gabbie, not much had changed she said. Still going on bad dates. Still making videos.
"So, what's up with you?" She said, eating a grapefruit as she sat with me on my bed.
"Well, I have a boyfriend. I think you might know him."
She raised her eyebrows at me sarcastically before we laughed. "No, seriously. What's been going on? Fill me in."
So I told her about the night before I left. I had already told her a little through multiple FaceTime conversations, but nothing is better than face-to-face. She nodded and went along with the conversation as I talked.
"Have you talked to David?" She piped up.
I never thought I'd lie to Gabbie. And as I looked at her face, I almost caved. But I couldn't bare to tell her. "No, I haven't."
She nodded. But I never thought that Gabbie would lie to me either, people will surprise you sometimes.
"So, I have another question." She said, and I nodded for her to go on. "When Heath left. He said he loved you. And the night before you left, he told you he loved you. But yesterday at the airport, you didn't say it back."
I swallowed, hoping this conversation wouldn't come up. "So, what's your question?"
"Have you told him you love him?"
My silence answered her question. It was silent a minute before I sighed. "I just don't know. I definitely like him. But I just haven't been able to say those three little words yet. It's strange going into a relationship where one half of it already knows and the other doesn't."
Gabbie nodded, getting where I was coming from. We continued to talk for a while, moving past that particular subject.
The next day, we go over to Scott's house and I catch up with everyone. They all know about Heath because I told them, but also from social media. It's definitely not a secret this time.
After catching up with everyone for a few hours? I go out to the backyard and sit down in the lawn chair. I just kind of.. needed a moment.
I sighed and closed my eyes, leaning my head back in the chair. I sat there for a few moments, just enjoying the sun on my skin and the fresh air.
"Car?" I heard an all too familiar voice say.
My head popped up and my eyes open to see David Dobrik.
The man I haven't seen since the night the tour came to L.A.
"Hey David." I said, unsure of what else to say.
