The next morning, I woke up feeling sick. I was suppose to go to work, but I called in and said I wasn't feeling well. Luckily, it wasn't Peter that answered the phone, but it was another co-worker, Lori, who said that she would pass the message along.
My audition is tomorrow. And I'm a mess.
But, despite everything, I'm not sad today. I'm pissed. And I will not blow this audition over David again.
So all day long, I stayed in the studio practicing. I put every ounce of energy that I had into this audition and the next thing I knew, it was 7 o clock, and I was starving. I decide to go by McDonalds and grab a burger threw the drive thru and go home for some rest for tomorrow.
I toss and turn all night, dreaming about David and what I saw, despite how tired I was from practicing all day.
Now, it's the day of the audition. I'm focused as I'll ever be.
My phone lit up and it was a text from Peter.
Good luck today, friend.
I smiled, and my heart felt warm.
Thank you friend. I replied.
I also had several texts from other friends like Zane, Scott, Kristen, and Josh. They made me feel much better about this whole thing.
I get to the audition and there are hundreds of girls here. I look around, but I don't feel intimidated. I have to focus. We get our numbers and everyone is warming up. I get a drink of water from this lady that looked to be in her mid-forties and leaned against the wall.
"Group number five!" Someone called.
I'm group number six, so I know I'm gonna go in soon. I feel my palms sweating and I wipe them on my leggings. Suddenly, I hear my phone vibrate in my bag. I told myself I wasn't gonna look at it, but my mind couldn't let go of wondering who texted me.
I reached into my bag and grabbed my phone to see.. David had texted me.
Good luck today, Car. Not that you need it. You're gonna do great.
I stared at the text for a moment. Then I angrily through my phone down on my bag, leaving him on read.
"Group number six!" The lady called.
This is it. I walked through the doors that held my future behind them, never looking back.
After the audition, I went home and crashed. I woke up about 4, and Gabbie had texted me.
I'm at Scott's with several of us if you want to come by after your audition and hang out.
I stared at the screen before finally typing back.
Is David there?
He isn't. She replied.
Okay. Be there soon.
I changed and headed over to Scott's house. "Carlie!!" Zane screamed coming up to me and hugging me. "How do you think it went babe?"
"Much better than my other audition," I laughed, making him smirk as he urged me to continue. "I think I may have a shot. But it is me against hundreds of girls."
Scott waved me off. "You got it."
Everyone else agreed. "Thank you guys!" I said, plopping down on the couch.
We were all just having a great time, laughing and hanging out. Scott and Zane were filming. Heath stopped by and it wasn't weird between us. Everything was going great. Until..
The door opened and Andrea walked in.
"Andy!!" Zane yelled. "What up girl??"
She replied but I don't even know what she said. I couldn't stop staring at her, despite the fact it made me want to throw up. She walked over and sat in the chair across from me.
"What's up Car? It's been a minute." She said to me.
I tried to hold back, but I couldn't. "Nothing much. What about you? What were you doing last night?"
Gabbie turned to me, hearing the tension in my voice. I could feel her concerned stare even though I wasn't looking at her.
"Umm.. just hanging out? Why?"
I laughed at her. Like really laughed. "You were just hanging out? With who?"
"Car, I don't know why you're so pissed at me but-"
"Oh," I chuckled. "So, you're just not going to admit to everyone what you did?"
She just looked at me, connecting the dots in her head. "Did he tell you?"
"He didn't have to."
"Okay, what the hell is going on?" Josh spoke up.
"It's nothing." Andrea said.
But right as she spoke, I spoke over her. "She slept with David last night."
No one spoke. The tension in the air was ridiculous.
Then, the door creaked open and David came around with a big smile on his face until we locked eyes. His eyes darted to Andrea, then back to me. "Hey, everybody," He said awkwardly. "What's going on?"
