"What do you want to talk about Heath?" I asked, honestly lost. I figured he left before because he seemed pretty mad.
He came and sat down on the bed with me, not meeting my eyes. "I still really care about you if that's not obvious."
"I care about you too." I say.
"But, you know what I mean."
"I do.." I said. Honestly, I didn't really want to hear this right now. I didn't want to do anything... but talking about emotions or relationships was the number one thing that I did not want to do.
"Car.." he whispered, looking up at me finally. "I love you."
Woah.
I didn't really know what to say. I was dumbfounded. Heath loved me??
I opened my mouth to speak and nothing came out. I got another wave of nausea from the drinking I done last night.
"Heath—" I started, but he put a hand up to stop me.
"You don't have to answer that right now. I know I have literally the worst timing ever. But, I just couldn't let it go. I had to tell you."
"Heath, I honestly just really need some time to process everything that's happened in the past day.."
He nodded. "I understand that. I just needed you to know the truth."
"Thank you," I said, giving him a sad smile.
He looked over to me, our eyes locking. I got this strange feeling that I wanted to kiss him. I could tell that he also wanted to kiss me, but I knew it wasn't a good idea right now.
"If it's okay, I'd like to just hang out in my bed for a while until we have to go to the airport." I said.
He nodded. "I'll see you later." And with that, he was gone.
I let out a breath I didn't know that I was holding and feel back onto the bed. My chest felt like it was carrying such a weight.. I felt like it was crushing me.
I cuddled up in the covers for comfort and drifted off into sleep.
When we went to the airport, it hit me that David and I were suppose to have seats next to each other. He asked to swap with Dommy so that's who I sat by on the way back to L.A. it made me sad that he couldn't even sit next to me for a short plane ride. But I knew that I done it to myself. It's all my fault.
I dragged myself into our apartment, dragging my luggage along.
"Honey, you doing okay?" Gabbie asked after we got our stuff settled back in.
I sat down on the couch with her. Jessi came up and sat in the chair across from us. "Honestly, I don't know. I just know I don't really want to talk about it."
"Then, we won't talk about it." Jessi said, putting her hands up in defense. "Let's watch Hulu. What do you want to watch?"
"How I Met Your Mother?" I said, slightly smiling. The two of them grinned and we watched the show until I fell asleep on the couch.
I got up the next day, Monday, because I had to go back to work at the coffee shop.
I walk into work and clock in and start prepping for the day when Peter comes up grinning at me. "What are you so happy about?"
"My good news that I have for you? Remember?" He said, smirking.
"Oh! I forgot completely." I said, mentally slapping myself for forgetting.
"Well..." He said, dragging out the word. "I got you another audition for a different tour."
I dropped the straws that I was restocking and looked at him with wide eyes. "What?"
"Yeah!" He said, smiling and nodding.
"That's amazing!" I said, grinning genuinely. I hugged Peter as I laughed. He wrapped his arms around my waist as he picked me up and spun me around.
I just kept laughing because it felt like I hadn't laughed like this in a long time, even if it hadn't been.
He set me down and he smiled down at me. "And this one is a full tour. Not just a portion."
"Who is it for?" I asked.
"Cardi B." He said.
"Shut. Up." I said, not believing him.
He smiled and nodded at me.
"Shut! Up!" I said hitting his arm. He just kept grinning at me and nodding. "You are literally the best, Peter!"
I heard a cough to my left, and I immediately knew a customer must of come in. As I turn to look, I'm immediately aware that Peter's hands are still on my waist.
I step out of Peter's arms as I realize who it is. "David?" I asked, my heart sinking back down.
"Hey." He said, shortly, glaring over at Peter.
"Uh," I say as I rush up to the counter. "Can I get you something?"
"Well, I just came by to talk, but I clearly can tell you're busy. So, I'm just going to go." He said, turning on his heels out the door in a hurry.
I looked at Peter and he nodded, urging me to follow him. "David!" I called as I ran after him through the door.
He kept walking, but I ran until I stood in front of him, making him stop, but he never looked at me.
"Hey," I said. "What did you come by to talk about?"
"It obviously doesn't matter." He said, laughing. But I knew he was trying to cover up that he felt jealous and mad.
"It does, David." I said.
He rolled his eyes, then finally looking at me. "Why don't you just go back inside and flirt with your boss some more?"
He started walking away, and I just stood there with my mouth agape. Why was he being so harsh on me? I get it, but this seems a little much.
"Hey!" I said, turning to catch him again. "I wasn't flirting with Peter. He got me another audition for a different tour and I was thanking him!" I explained.
I hadn't caught up to him yet, but now, he stopped and turned around to face me. "Really?"
"Yeah," I said with a hint of a smile.
"Well, that's great." He said, but his tone was still flat.
"So, what did you want to talk to me about?" I asked.
He sighed and looked away from me. "It's fine, we can talk later. You need to go back to work. I'll text you later."
"Okay.." I said and with that, he turned and walked away.
