Time Skip >> Next Day (Your POV)

"You're married?" I nodded and gave a small smile. "Y/n, do you even understand what you're getting yourself into?" He asked. "You're seventeen and in a psychiatric institution."

"Yeah, I know... And that's why I've asked you to be here." I replied, looking over at Winona. She smiled, placing her hand on my shoulder. I took a deep breath before looking back at Joe. "You applied to be my legal guardian after I was placed into the Institution, which makes you my sole caretaker and that means you have to sign consent forms so I can marry Finn."

"Okay I love you, Y/n, I do. But I can't do this without feeling like I'm pushing you down a dark path. You're not mentally stable and I can't just ignore that." Joe replied, gripping the bridge of his nose.

"Alright, well if you love me and you care about me... You'll help me." I said, handing him the papers.

"How are you gonna get it officiated?" Joe scoffed, continuing to bombard me with questions. "And what about a ceremony?"

"Winona's husband is certified for weddings, she's agreed to be a witness and so has another officer." I continued.

"Is your "fiancé" even the legal age?"

"No," I said, "He's meeting with his parents right now... Trying to get the same thing as me."

Finn's POV

I looked at them through the glass as my mother and father entered the room. David suggested I be kept far enough that I couldn't inflict bodily harm on anyone.

"Finn." My dad trailed, taking his seat.

"Dad." I replied, "It's been awhile."

"Three years." My mother chirped, holding my dad's hand tightly. Her knuckles turned white as she watched me.

"I'll just... Get to the point then." I continued, sliding a stack of papers and a pen through the slot in the glass.

"What the hell is this?" My father asked, picking up the papers and flipping through the pages.

"It's a state requirement that says your giving me consent to get married." I replied, "I wanna marry another patient."

"What?" My mother exclaimed. "You're seventeen."

"We don't wanna wait any longer than we have to. I wanna be married to her." I continued, "I love her."

"Let me get this straight, we don't hear from you for three years and when we finally do you're asking us to sign away our parental rights just so you can get married to some skeezy slut you met in a mental hospital?" My mother scoffed.

"I thought being straight-forward with you would be easier than taking you to court and getting emancipated," I said plainly.

"I'm sorry?" My father asked. "Emancipated?"

"Look, it doesn't matter which way you fight me on this. You don't sign the consent papers and I file for emancipation. You win the ability to keep your parental rights and I'll wait until I'm eighteen and marry her anyway."

"Jesus Christ." My mother sighed.

Your POV

"Will you help me?" I pleaded.

"When are you planning to do this?" Joe asked.

"If everything goes well, Finn and I were hoping today."

"Today?" He stammered, "Like today, today?" I smiled softly.

"Yeah." I chuckled, "Today, today." He gently held my hand and squeezed it.

"Got a pen?" Immediately my face lit up.

"I-I... I-I..." I stumbled.

"Here you go," Winona said, handing him a blue pen. He smiled again before he began to sign the paperwork.

Finn's POV

"You're an idiot." My father said, rolling his eyes.

"What are you doing?" My mother asked as my father began to sign the papers.

"Look, either we sign the goddamn papers or we spend a fortune on a court case." He spat. "Let's just give him what he wants." My mother looked back at me through the glass, glaring.

"You are not the son I raised," She scoffed as my father handed her the papers and the pen. She rolled her eyes as she signed the papers before sliding them back to me. I grabbed the papers and walked to the door, knocking to let David know I was done.

"On the contrary, I'm exactly the son you raised and I hope that simmers under your skin for a long time." I smiled as David opened the door.

Your POV

Joe had pulled me into a hug after finishing.

"Do me a favor." He pleaded and he held me tight. "Don't be stupid." I chuckled. The sound of the door slamming caught me off guard, immediately I turned around to see Finn and David. I walked to Finn, instantly pulling him into a hug.

"How'd it go?" I muttered. He pulled back and nodded. I felt a stream of tears fall down my face. "... We can get married." I whispered. I nodded again before kissing me.

"If you two are done we can have the ceremony," David said, pulling us from our moment. I took Finn's hand and smiled. I walked back to the Winona and Joe who'd be joined by David.

"Do you wanna do it now?" Winona asked.

"What about Officer Powell? Isn't he a witness?" Finn replied. "We need two, don't we?"

"You wanna do it?" David asked looking back at Joe. Joe's eyes widened and he blushed.

"If you want me to...?" He mumbled. I nodded.

"Alright," David said, clapping his hands together. "Let's get this show on the road. David stood between the two of us and smiled. "To our dearest witnesses, we thank you for your presence here today. Finn and Y/n ask for your respect and lifelong support of their decision to be married."

"I love you..." Finn mouthed.

"You have come here today to officiate your love and commitment to each other. You delivered and received a ring as a symbol of your everlasting love." David continued, although I cringed at the thought. We didn't have rings.

"Oh! Hold on," Winona exclaimed, digging into her pocket. She smiled before handing me a silver wedding band. "Take this." She smiled, "It was my fathers."

"Y/n, please place your ring onto Finn's hand." I nodded as I did what I was told. "Finn, please place your ring onto Y/n's hand." Immediately Finn took hold of my hand and almost instantly the air in my lungs dissipated

"I probably should've given this to you when I asked you to marry me..." Finn trailed, "But hindsight's 20/20." I smiled while he placed the ring on my hand. I let out a shaky breath as a few tears fell again.

"By the power of your love and the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife," David concluded. I quickly pulled Finn into a kiss. Correction— I pulled my husband into a kiss.
