It was 2 AM. Mitch woke up to Scott tossing and turning. He was restless, and he was shivering yet sweating. He had also been coughing all day and throughout the night, and he had been saying that he was tired, achy, and had a headache earlier in the day. Mitch could also tell that he had some congestion, if his voice sounding more stuffy and his slight difficulty breathing through his nose was any indication. Mitch became worried. He was never like this unless he was......

Oh no, Mitch thought as he realized why Scott was so restless. He had gotten sick with the flu. Mitch reached up to touch Scott's forehead and immediately pulled away. Scott was burning and his forehead was sweaty. His tank top was also soaked with sweat, meaning he had gotten a fever.

"Oh god," Mitch whispered as he pulled his hand away. He quickly got up and went to the bathroom to get a washcloth and flu medicine. He rinsed the washcloth with cold water and wrung it out before folding it and heading back into the bedroom. He placed the cloth on Scott's forehead and pushed the covers off of him so his body could cool off. He put the medicine on Scott's nightstand to have him take it later that morning.

Scott was still squirming and restless, so Mitch tried to relax him. He sat down next to Scott on the bed and played with his hair. It was a bit sweaty, but Mitch didn't care at the moment. He just wanted Scott to sleep well. He then managed to carefully get Scott's tank top off his body, throwing it into the laundry basket to be washed later.

Mitch knew that he could get Scott to further relax by lightly touching his face, so that's what he did. He moved his hand to Scott's face and gently cupped it, caressing his thumb over his boyfriend's cheek.

He pulled his hand away and rested it in his lap. It had worked. He had successfully gotten Scott to sleep. He carefully climbed over Scott's legs to get to his side of the bed, deciding that he wouldn't cuddle with Scott. This was simply to let him cool down and sleep peacefully. He set some alarms on his phone and made them loud enough for him to hear, yet quiet enough to not wake Scott up. He did this to make sure he would be up throughout the night to take care of Scott, whether it was to re-wet the cloth or play with his hair again.

Then he went back to sleep and the night went smoothly. He was able to get up and tend to Scott's needs when necessary, and do whatever he needed to do in the moment as well. He would fall back asleep for however long until the next time he needed to take care of Scott, repeating the process all throughout the night.
