Mitch was sitting on the couch at home, bored with nothing to do. He had tried watching TV, scrolling through social media, and playing with Wyatt, but nothing was working to get rid of his boredom. He was trying to be quiet because Scott was still asleep upstairs, so he couldn't be too loud.
Then he got an idea. He had been craving homemade cookies lately, so he decided to make some, gluten free of course. He went upstairs to their room to find his laptop. When he got there, he quietly shuffled around until he found it. He picked it up and took it back down to the kitchen. He opened it and went on Google before typing "gluten free cookie recipe" into the search bar.
He scrolled through the results and stopped every now and then to look at some recipes that looked decent. After a few minutes, he found one and clicked on it. He checked the list of ingredients and looked through the kitchen, making sure they had everything he needed. He checked the prep time and was relieved when it wasn't too long. Then he set his laptop on the counter so he could get started. He preheated the oven and began getting his utensils ready.
Mitch was trying not to be too loud while getting his utensils, but he found it really difficult. He would stop when something was too loud and listen to see if he had disturbed Scott at all. He hadn't so far, but when he pulled out a metal mixing bowl from one of the cupboards, he accidentally dropped it, wincing at the loud noise it made as it clattered on the ground. "Goddamnit," he cursed under his breath, hoping he hadn't woken Scott up. His hope faltered when he heard Scott's footsteps coming down the stairs.
Scott jolted awake when a loud crash came from downstairs. "What the fuck?" he muttered as he got up and threw on a red sweater. He adjusted his sweats as he rushed out of the room. "Mitch, baby, are you okay? What happened?" he mumbled as he rushed down the stairs half asleep. "I'm fine, why?" Mitch responded from the kitchen. Scott started heading towards him. "A loud crash woke me up and I wanted to make sure you weren't hurt," he said as he leaned against the doorframe and ran a hand through his messy hair. "Oh, I was just getting ready to make some cookies and I accidentally dropped the mixing bowl." Mitch explained. "But yeah, I'm fine," he assured, picking up the bowl and setting it on the counter.
Scott moved closer to Mitch and wrapped his arms around his waist. He leaned down and rested his chin on Mitch's shoulder, watching as he put all the necessary ingredients in the bowl and stirred the batter. "Any specific reason?" Scott asked. "Not really. I've just been craving them lately." Mitch answered him. Scott leaned forward more and turned his head a little to press a light kiss to Mitch's cheek before standing back up to his full height. "Well, if you need any help, just let me know," he offered. "Thanks babe," Mitch said. "Anytime," Scott replied.
Scott then put one arm around Mitch's shoulders and lifted his other arm to cup Mitch's face with his hand, turning Mitch's head to face him. Scott leaned in and gently yet passionately kissed Mitch. The kiss lasted a little while before Scott pulled away and left the kitchen, leaving Mitch to finish the dough.
Mitch soon finished the dough and set it in the refrigerator to harden. Then he walked into the living room and found Scott laying on his back on the couch, ankles crossed and phone in hand. The TV was on, but he wasn't paying much attention to it. Scott noticed Mitch's presence in the room and looked up at him. "Do you need something?" he asked. Mitch shook his head. "No. I just set the dough in the fridge to chill. I'll take it out in an hour," he answered. "Well, what do you want to do until then?" Scott asked. Mitch just shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe just cuddle on the couch and watch TV until I need to get it?" he suggested. Scott seemed okay with that. "Sounds good," he agreed.
Scott was about to sit up, but Mitch held up a hand to stop him. "There's no need for that," he said. Scott was confused, but he didn't argue. He set his phone down and laid back on the couch. He shifted to his side, pressing his back against the couch cushions. Scott opened his arms for Mitch, already knowing how he wanted to be cuddled. Mitch smiled at this. He knows me so well, he thought. He moved into Scott's arms and pressed his back against Scott's chest so they were spooning.
Scott wrapped his arms around Mitch's torso. Mitch squirmed around a little bit until he was comfortable. Then he reached over and picked up the remote. "Anything in particular you want to watch?" he asked. Scott just mumbled, "No. Watch whatever you want, baby." Mitch could tell that he was going to fall asleep soon. "Is Scotty a sleepy boy?" he teased. Scott laughed lightly. "Very," he mumbled. Mitch smiled and put Spongebob on the TV.
It didn't take very long for Scott to fall asleep. About 4 episodes in, his breathing evened out and his grip around Mitch loosened. Mitch shivered when Scott's breath would go down his neck. He continued to lay on the couch with Scott and watch Spongebob until the dough was done.
An hour passed and it was time for Mitch to take the dough out of the fridge. Scott was still asleep and Mitch wasn't sure how he would be able to get out of his arms without waking him. He thought about it and figured that it would just be easier to wake Scott up.
He gently took a hold of Scott's arm that was draped over his body and lightly shook it to wake him up. "Scotty," he said softly. "Hmm? What is it?" he mumbled sleepily. "The dough is ready and I need to go take it out so I can bake it." Mitch said. Scott hesitated, but reluctantly let Mitch go and went back to sleep. Mitch made his way into the kitchen and looked through the window from it to their living room. He smiled when he saw that Scott had gone back to sleep sprawled across the couch.
He shifted his focus to the cookie dough in front of him and got to work. He lined two cookie sheets with parchment paper and set one aside. He rolled the dough into small balls and placed them evenly on one sheet. Then he repeated the process with the other one. He flattened the dough balls out before opening the oven and carefully putting the sheets into it. He went over to his laptop and checked the recipe for how long he needed to bake the cookies. He set a timer and decided to take a quick shower while Scott was still sleeping on the couch.
Mitch finished his shower and threw on a black t-shirt and sweats. He started singing softly as he walked back downstairs where he found Scott still asleep on the couch and Spongebob still on the TV. He went over to Scott and sat down in front of him. He started playing with Scott's hair a little bit as he watched the episodes play on the TV and waited for the cookies to finish baking.
After a while, the cookies were done and Mitch got up to get them out of the oven. He started singing again. He was trying to be quiet, but he hit a high note that was a little too loud, waking Scott up in the process.
Scott woke up to the smell of freshly baked cookies and the sound of Mitch singing. He sat up and smiled as he listened to his boyfriend's beautiful voice. He stood up and walked into the kitchen where Mitch had his back turned. He was carefully placing the cookies on a wire rack to cool. Scott leaned against the doorframe again.
"You're so talented," Scott commented, his voice deep and raspy from sleep. Mitch jumped a little bit at the sound of Scott's voice. He turned around and looked at Scott, immediately blushing when he realized Scott had heard him singing. Scott caught on to his embarrassment and walked over to him. He took Mitch's hands in his and pulled him closer, lightly kissing his forehead. "Don't be embarrassed. Your voice is beautiful," he assured.
Scott pulled Mitch closer and hugged him as they waited for the cookies to cool off. He rested his chin on top of Mitch's head and they stayed like that for a few minutes until the cookies were ready to eat. When they were ready, Mitch took one and offered one to Scott. Scott took it and thanked him. He took a bite and nodded in approval. "Wow," he said after swallowing it. "These are really good. I'm going to get literally so addicted to these." Mitch smiled at the praise Scott was giving him. "Thank you, babe," he said.
Suddenly, Scott got an idea. "Mitchy?" he said. Mitch looked up at him. "Wanna know what would go great with these cookies?" Mitch tilted his head a little bit. "What?" he replied. Scott walked over to the refrigerator and opened it. He bent down and looked through it. He found what he was looking for and stood back up. "Some milk," he said as he held up the carton of almond milk. Mitch nodded in agreement and went to a cupboard. He opened it and pulled out two glasses. He took them over to the island where the milk was and poured some into each glass. They spent the rest of the day cuddling, watching TV, and eating the cookies Mitch had made.
